The heroes (Dion, Clanndennagh, Mikhail with Samhain, Sky, Dajamira, and Pepper) decided to leave the farm house and camp out in the woods outside of Nulb. Not a few minutes later, coming out of the brush was Moonlight, followed by Quicksilver and Helga. The druidess had been trying to reconnect with the heroes and had met up with the drawf in the forest.
Together, the group made camp, when suddenly many of the heroes had the feeling they were being watched. Taking the regular precautions, suddenly a tall, brown haired woman in a simple brown robe literally stepped out of nowhere and greeted them. With her was a copper dragon and a burly man in splinted mail. Mikhail recognized the woman as Rhanée StrongArm, the first witch to live in Klarr during his childhood. Rhanée had used her magic mirror on behalf of Arianna -- the man, Semi, is a paladin of Athena charged with aiding the heroes and protecting Mikhail from the assassins hunting him (Rhanée mumbled something about Andar passing along the word...). The witch of Bahamut passed out a few heal spells, shunning Dion and getting ticked off at Helga's comments. Unfortunately, Rhanée couldn't fix Marc or Cliffy, but agreed to return them when she could. Semi introduced himself and joined the party.
The heroes decided to hide overnight in Burt's home in Nulb. They sneak inside and settle in for the night. Sky curls up in the smokeless fire that Semi builds and the evening passes almost without incident (someone tried to scry the group at one point). In the morning, Pepper woke up to make breakfast, only to find that Sky had EATEN all of the embers as well as ashes and even her ever-warm coal! And she was no longer quite just a fire snake -- over night the "lumps" on her sides had split open to reveal feeble arms! Sky was becoming a full-fledged salamander and can now even hiss out words!
In the morning, the group decides to send Dajamira, Pepper, and Moonlight into town for supplies. While there, the three women learn that a man named Belak has put out a bounty on the party's head...and he lives in town. The group considers investigating, but ultimately chooses to take on the Temple while they're at full strength. They make a quick trip back to the deserted shack, although Daj notices that a number of LARGE creatures have been through the area since the day before. The party continues into the tunnel without incident, until suddenly, their light again fails...
Dion attempts to cast another light but it fails (actually it didn't, but it was being cancelled like the originals!). Several party members fumble for a light while Pepper and Sky in the back and Helga in the front spy "visitors"...
Helga and Clanndennagh find themselves battling a black pudding while five gargoyles come up from behind the group. Daj uses a cantrip to light a torch quickly and melee is joined! The pudding causes serious damage to the psychic warrior and nearly kills Helga. Meanwhile, Sky joins Daj in the rear after the gargoyles nearly kill little Pepper and Semi. Sky loops a coil around one gargoyle, pinning it's arms and crushing the life out of it. Daj tries to keep up, but the young salamander's body count keeps mounting, reaching four of the five gargoyles by the end of the battle!
In the front of the party, meanwhile, Helga is forced to fall back after the pudding keeps splitting into small creatures. Mikhail tries to get the paladin to stand still long enough to bandage his wounds while the clerics use their healing spells on the other wounded. As the last glob of pudding finally dies, Helga and Pepper head to the front of the party and see five ogres charging them!
Clanndennagh drops three of them with a psi-blast and Daj pivots and kills another ogre with a volley of magic missiles. The one left on its feet hacks Clanndennaghleaving him seriously wounded. Pepper and Samhain dash past and begin to take out the downed ogres before they can recover. Another volley of magic missiles take out the other ogre while Helga starts a chant. The heroes finish off both the ogres and gargoyles at this point, just as Pepper catches sight of two things -- King and Bronson charging down the hallway to attack and a tall, red-haired, black-clothed man casting a spell. Suddenly a web catches nearly everyone! Pepper and Samhain are clear in the front while Mikhail is in an empty pocket in the back. But that's it!
Moonlight uses her ring of lupin control to force King and Bronson into a stand-still. Which was right as the two trolls charged in to kill Sammy and Pepper. Clanndennagh ego whipped one, sending it screaming down the passage. But the troll dropped both opponents. Before it could kill them, Clanndennagh ripped clear of the web and Mikhail lit them on fire, burning everyone else, but freeing them as well. The heroes surge forward, taking on the one troll. The red-haired man find himself in combat with Clanndennagh and Sammy, both of whom nail him. He falls to the ground and begs for his life. The large Baklun orders the man to take off his ring while Sky enwraps the troll and kills it.
That's when the other troll comes back. It charges right into the party -- Clanndennagh moves to intercept while Mikhail calls (wounded) Samhain off. The man, Bleyshek, uses the confusion to bolt for the side passage to the tower. Dion goes after him, but as the cleric reaches the wooden ladder up, he sees the red-haired man fading from view, turning invisible.
The heroes finish off the troll, tend their wounded and collect King and Bronson. The group decides to head back to Nulb and rest -- once again they have the strength to force their way into the Temple but can't continue past. 8-(
While walking through the woods back to town, suddenly an arrow slams into Mikhail's back. The boy disappears and before anyone can react, Dion has a similar arrow in his back. Most of the party turn to figure out where their assailant is, when another arrow whizzes past Clanndennagh's eye. Daj spies Omega in a tree and webs him, but the group can see the half-orc isn't caught. He grins and flips the party off. Mikhail returns to normal time and unleashes a psychic crush on the captive assassin, who disappears in a green flash.
The party returns to Burt's two-room cabin. They settle in to rest and recover as most of them are badly wounded. Mikhail and Clanndennagh meditate and periodically use their mental powers to heal the party. About four hours later, the group hears a knock on the door. Dion asks Daj to help him make it sound like the party is having sex, but it doesn't work. Semi opens the door.
Outside is Tolub, the local pirate captain, who has had his men surround the building. The heroes are to come out with their hands up and drop their weapons, otherwise, he'll give his men the order to kill EVERYONE and ignore any later commands to the contrary. "It's hard to be charmed if the caster is dead, so give up."
Semi challenges the pirate, who drops the paladin with a single hit of is axe. He then says, "leave now or I chop of this man's head."
Moonlight steps outside and surrenders while Helga moves toward the door, but instead attacks Tolub! The pirate hacks down the dwarf and nearly drops her. Sammy joins Helga, but is stunned from a single hit from the pirate. Moonlight is surrounded and nearly dies from a rain of blows. The pirates tear off the dillapidated shutters and begin to lay seige to the building!
Dion and Sky each cover a window. Clanndennagh charges to save Helga, Semi, and Sammy, while Mikhail, appears outside after an earlier timeshift, using a psionic blast to take out nearly all of the men not fighting Moonlight (except, of course, Tolub!). Clanndennagh lands a blow against the pirate, who breaks dozens of the psychic warrior's ribs in response! Meanwhile the thugs have hacked down Quicksilver and Moonlight it flailing. Things are looking bleak.
That's when Mikhail is stunned by an arrow to the chest from across the lane. A second arrow also hits, but the third goes wild, giving the young man a chance to time-shift to safety. On the thatch roof of the neighbor's house is Omega, bow in hand...
Dajamira appears and quickly hacks through most of Moonlight's foes. Helga stands back up as well. Meanwhile, Dion has clubbed one man to death and used a spell to sic King on Tolub. Sky too has killed one man coming in through the window and has now moved to help in the front while Pepper uses her war darts to cover the openings. The young salamander attacks Tolub pinning both the pirate's arms and squeezing the life out of him. He calls his men to defend him, lifting the pressure in other parts of the battle. Only one they attack do they realize that their weapons are not fully effective against the snake-woman's body!
Omega sinks another arrow into Daj as Helga rejoins the combat. Free to cast a spell, Daj pulls out a scoll and dumps an ice storm on the surprised half-orc -- the roof collapses under the sudden weight, giving the heroes some respite from the bounty hunter's withering arrow fire.
By this point, Dion has come outside through the window and holds more foes while Helga takes out most of the remaining minions. Tolub tries to bargain for his life, but Sky ignores the man's please while King tears into his face, ultimately pulling his head off... Dion moves into combat but gets nailed in the hand, breaking several bones.
The second in command of the pirates flees as do two other men, but all the rest lie dead in front of the shoddy cabin. Moonlight and Daj charge to where Omega was, but see a trail of footprints and blood leading off across the snow -- Daj points out that he was VERY badly wounded when he left.
The heroes regroup and again tend to their wounded. Using the very last of their spells as well as one-third of potion of extra-healing, they restore everyone to consciousness, although Clanndennagh must assume the form of a fox and be put in Mikhail's bag in order to travel. The heroes see a crowd forming and head for the woods some two hours away where they camp for the night. After Clanndennagh gets some sleep, he uses his psychic powers to mend the breaks in his ribs as well as Dion's hand.
