While this huge collection of heroes was waiting for Tobyn to finish cutting a channel to the well with Slee's sphere of annihilation, a pair of humans arrive at the outskirts of the encampment.
In the lead is a man; long dirty blond hair, blue eyes, fair skin, thick mustache, about 6' tall, strong and atheletic build, dressed in simple woolen clothing and bearing a pair of short swords. He's about 30 years old, kind of cute (especially if you're into jocks), and is wearing a hammer pendant on a thong around his neck. He speaks with a slight Norsk accent.
"My companion and I," he gestures to indicate the woman coming up behind him, somewhat more winded from the journey, "were wondering if any of you might be adventurers. We have a friend in need nearby."
The woman steps up along side the man. She's also Nordic, in her late-twenties, 5'9" and thin, with a much less muscular build. She also has long blonde hair and green eyes. She is wearing no armor, but has a shield and broad sword on her back and is bearing a staff. She is also wearing quite a bit of gold jewelry, including prayer beads. At her feet is a calico cat.
"Our friend, Cliffy, has been transformed into a tree and we are seeking someone to reverse the spell," she states plainly.

Darya was needed only to be present (in case of Alternate Reality) for Tobyn. When the mage rests, she can chat all she wants (we never actually needed the spell...)
The man approaches the elf and says, "well, sorta. I think he read a scroll or something. We were having a tough time of things. But the deal is, he's about a day's journey from here and has been sitting there for almost a month now. He's nice and I'm sure could reward you..."

A dwarf in Plate mail and a couple of hammers walks over and says " how much are we talking about? I am goin to need a lot of gold to get fixed." As you see he has no right arm at the shoulder.
An average height human in chain mail with greecian style hair walks over and says, " Unfortunately i have not access to my higher level spells, so I am sorry. Unless you have a scroll of dispel magic? Maybe Gamoth is willing to help out"
Gamoth has, unfortunately, already left in order to tend to his animals back in Tigerwood. Gor is back in Greyhawk, helping Thyme look after Ash's cubs, Bethsheba and Gilgamesh.
The younger, Scandinavian man says, "I'm afraid we have little gold left, although Cliffy should have some treasure on him. He's been a tree for an awful long time and it would be a shame if he forgot to be a person. He's really an elven mage, so I'd think one of you pointy-eared types might want to do a favor for a cousin..."
If Darya is still hanging out...she would respond:
"Well, I sorta have this thing I'm supposed to be doing...(thinking of the elf game)....you said he's an elf right?? Hmmm, perhaps if we could fix him, he could help out fixing the forests...if he's been a tree, he'll have a vested interest..hehehehe..oh, errr, sorry about that...just a little joke! Anyway, what did you say this chaps name was??"
Yrsa, the young blond woman who just arrived says, "I'm afraid it's true that we don't have much money, but I'm sure he does. His name is Ciffy. He's a great guy and has worked for the cause of good many a time. We would appreciate any help we can get."
Chastity "I would help you but I'm very busy at the moment. How far away did you say he was? Has anyone tried to remove the curse yet? If so, what level where they? Exactly how long has it been since he was cursed? Was the writing of any specific nature (as in race)? Any additional information you can come up with will help aid whomever tries to dispel him.
Ael'Mara, "I'd do it now, but I made a promise to someone that I must fullfil first. However, when I get done I'd be glade to help if you had a scroll I could use." ;D
A man steps forward. He is in his late 20's, human, dark skinned (Native American), very attractive, and has an air of calmness about him. He says, "Now that Greyhawk has been saved, I'm sure I could take the time to try to remove the curse. If you can't afford to pay I will take some sort of service in exchange. It would be nothing too major and not in conflict with your alignment, assuming you're good. By the way, my name is Falling Leaf." He puts out his hand to shake either Freke or Yrsa's hand, whichever is closer.
"Oh, yeah, introductions...where are my manners? I'm Darya Swiftfoot, at your service....not sure if I have time to help out before my thing....and hey, does anyone have a copy of dispel magic. [humorous shrug] I haven't taken the time to learn it yet "
"Well met. My name is Freke and this is my companion, Yrsa. We are former adventuring companions of the elf. His name is Cliffy and he's a wood elven mage. He's been a tree for nearly a month and we don't have the resources to cast spells on him. Depending on what you're looking for, I might be able to help, although first I'd like to find my sister. Her name is Gere and she's dating a big-mucky-mucky mage in Greyhawk named Treblo. Ever heard of either of them? Maybe they're here...?" looking around...
David
p.s. -- yes, this is an answer from FREKE's perspective
