The heroes (Idky, Yavin, Athos, Artec, Katya, Sabrina, and Ishmopah) continue their exploration of the jungle-claimed pyramid. They open the secret door and enter a broad hallway. Down the hall, there are three heads fixed on the walls at intervals: a winged serpent, a wingless dragon, and a giant pterodactyl. Each one is opposite a hallway. Yavin cast detect magic, and determines that the first one and its nose ring are magical. The next one is magical and so is a brass ring on its horn. Katiya casts nab to grab the ring off the second one. It doesn’t work, and the head turns toward the party and roars at them all. Athos gets turned to stone, as does most everything he owns. Artec and Sabrina’s outer skin calcifies, and their cloth and cellulose-based items turn to stone and they’re effectively slowed.
The wingless dragon animates as a living jade statue and moves to attack the party. Yavin tries to faerie fire it but it fails. Idky casts prayer, and Katiya moves back and casts Melf’s acid arrow at it, and it bounces off (still depositing corrosive acid on it). Ishmopah meets it in battle and changes into his lycanthrope shape. During the fight, Yavin leans a little too fall forward and animates the serpent statue. There are now two opponents. Artec and Sabrina attempt to break free.
Idky casts aid on Ishmopah. The serpent breathes on Ishmopah and Yavin. Yavin gets turned to stone. Artec gets moving and moves to engage the dragon creature. Ishmopah starts tearing into the couatl and does a ton of damage! Sabrina finds out that magic missiles are useless against the creatures. Katiya continues trying to nab the rings from them. Ishmopah gets taken out by the couatl. Katiya helps Sabrina break free of her concretized clothing and then tries to do the same for Artec. It helps a little, and Artec is now able to move a little better. Sabrina casts mirror image on herself and attempts to draw it after her. Artec finishes off the dragon.
The party gets to healing themselves and unpetrifying Yavin and Athos. They take the rings, one of brass, the other of bronze. They determine that the three rings need to be used together, and they only have two in their possession. After regrouping, they devise a plan to deal with the last golem.
As they wander back to open the doors (to allow Katiya’s summoned creatures to wander in), they encounter a nest of eight Torsh mosquitoes. Between Sabrina’s magic missiles and Artec’s arrows, they finish them off quickly. Then Katiya casts monster summoning IV, and they wait for her creatures to wander in.
Three 30’-long anacondas arrive, and Katiya sends them down the hallway to attack the last statue. They wait around the bend as the snakes attack and activate the golem. The pterodactyl golem turns them all to stone, but not before one wraps it. Artec steps around the corner and launches a chaos arrow and a stoning arrow at the creature. They have no effect. So the party rushes to engage. They make quick quick work of it.
