The heroes (Idky, Yavin, Arthur, Athos, Artec, Katya, and Hamish) continue exploring the pyramid ruins on Torsh and check out the pools in the chamber they battled the kraken-like creature. They are basins fed from below, but they’re only trickling now. Artec runs over the water to the other exit and finds the brass-bound door a bit warped and swollen. It doesn’t quite fit in the door jamb. Water is leaking in underneath it. It appears that if they open the door, it would release a flood of water.
They decide to head back to where the stone plug is in the wall to allow Yavin a nicer place to meditate. They consider how/if to move the plug. Athos determines there is no mechanism to open it, although it does look like it was pushed from the other side. After they give Yavin an hour to meditate, Hamish, Artec, and Athos work on trying to leverage the plug out. It takes a very long time, giving enough time for Yavin to recharge, heal everyone, and tank back up.
After six hours, they get the block out. It opens enough for a single person to squeeze in. Idky casts find traps and enters. It opens into a larger space with a large bronze doors that are mechanically trapped. There are glyphs on the door jamb. Idky casts comprehend languages. It reads: “Here lies Yo-wa-yay A-ha-kakh-tee-ee, master of the others, who is like the wind and the night. THE FIRST LORD.” There are six bronze patinaed urns in the room.
As they are waiting, 16 giant mosquitoes come flying over the block and attack the party. Eventually, seven more join in. Yavin helps out Artec by mesmerizing and mind thrusting his mosquitoes. During the battle, they hear two female voices coming from the direction of the temple entrance. The females arrive and start asking if they’re in trouble. They ask if they can help, which they gladly accept. They tell them that the mosquitoes are very dangerous and cause disease. One of the ladies casts a spell and four mosquitoes collapse asleep. The one who cast the spell starts speaking Common. Her name is Kinsa Orcsbane and her friend is Sabrina. The party easily dispatch the remaining mosquitoes.
With them is a man in platemail named Borlon. He explains that the three of them were drawn to the party's location by a telepathic voice calling out to him. Borlon goes back outside the ruins where he's left "more of his party" while the two women remain.
Athos disarms the trap on the door and picks the lock to open the door. It opens into a very large room with extreme calcification on the walls and ceiling. Around the walls are bas reliefs of a procession of people. There is a huge stone table in the middle of the room. A full sized battle axe is embedded in the opposite wall. As Idky steps in to check for traps, he sets off six glyphs. Six amber energy streams fly out, missing Idky, Athos, Hamish, and Kinsa. Artec gets hit by one, which envelops him in amber energy. It’s a sepia snake sigil. Katiya summons seven orcs, who walk into the temple, looking confused. She sends them all into room to set off the glyphs. Explosive runes, sepia snakes, bolts of pure white light, etc. fly around the room, killing and/or freezing them in time.
Afterward, Katiya casts nab to bring the battle axe to her, which she hands to Hamish. She feels a dark shadow pass over her heart. Hamish really wants the axe once he touches it. She summons seven leeches to enter the room to set off more glyphs on the top of the table. She summons three goblins for the same thing. Yavin mesmerizes one to allow it to get to other parts of the room. She tries to summon more, but they never show up. They assume that Borlon and his men kill them. So they send Yavin out to tell Borlon not to kill anything that makes its way to the temple. Yavin doesn’t return. They send Sabrina, and she doesn’t return after ten minutes.
They all decide to go outside. Kinsa crumples as she leaves. Idky checks on her and believes she’s dead. Hamish crumples as he exits. Athos returns with Borlon. Borlon explains that they are in temporal shock. Yavin and Sabrina had also succumbed. According to him, they have been in there a whole day. He suggests they wait outside for them to recover. So they camp out in Katiya’s shelter.
The next day, the women are still in shock. They are getting weaker but are still alive. The next day, Sabrina recovers, and Kinsa recovers on the fourth day. But she needs another day to recover. Meanwhile, Katiya summons more creatures to send in to set off the glyphs.
