The heroes (Idky, Yavin, Arthur, Athos, Artec, Katya, and Hamish) move to the next set of alcoves in the entry hallway of the massive, jungle-swallowed pyramid, Idky using a mirror to peer into them. One looks like a world being built by giant lizard creatures. There is a ring of smaller lizard creatures mutually sacrificing themselves. The door ahead is magically trapped. Idky casts dispel magic at the whole area around the door, including the alcoves. He manages to dispel one of the alcoves. Athos attempts to disarm the door trap. He sets off a glyph when he attempts to smudge it. A bolt of white energy arcs out, hitting Athos and Artec, and activates the still-trapped alcove. That creates four artificial beings, who also get struck and destroyed. Athos is stunned and smoldering and also five years younger. It was pure life energy.
Idky checks and insures the traps are all gone, and Yavin starts to cell adjust him, discovering that healing energy was poured directly into his cells until they died. The door isn’t locked. It opens into a passageway, which the party continues on. They dispel a magical trap along the way. They come to a round room with a large, beautiful, semi-polished rock in the middle. It is full of mud, which blocks a door at the end of a passageway leading down. The mud appears to have been rock transmuted to mud a long time ago and has never dried up. As they contemplate the room and the strange rock, as strange crawdad/mind flayer thingie pops up out of the mud and speaks to them. It demands that they leave, but the party insists they are fascinated by their home. The crawdad goes to twitch a bamboo, and the stone in the middle moves and reveals itself to be a giant hermit crab-like creature who also insists they leave. When they don’t leave fast enough, it moves toward them. Artec kills the crawdad with an arrow but finds out that the hermit crab requires magic weapons to hit.
Hamish steps forward and gets somewhat mired in the mud, and he also attacks and damages it. Katiya hits it with a Melf’s acid arrow, angering it. Idky gets caught in its pincers and it starts to crush him. It also manages to grab a hold of Hamish and starts to pull them deeper into the mud. Artec uses his ring of the zephyr to reach it on the mud to attack it in melee. Yavin uses his levitate ability to keep Hamish from sinking any further. Artec delivers the killing blow, freeing Idky.
They open one of exit doors. The hallways looks wet, and the plaster looks severely damaged. Perhaps by a fire followed by a flood? Artec ferries people across using his ring. They find a giant stone “plug” along the hallway but the hall ends in a collapsed section. So they head to the other door. As they cross over, a large number of little lizards come in. They are scavenging and start eating the dead crustaceans. Yavin mesmerizes one and attacks it with his throwing axe. It scatters the whole lot of them.
The other hallway is sloping downward slightly and opens into a large room. Everything is wet and muddy and in disarray. There is slime and fungi. They find a 3-sided pyramid and statues of various types of strange creatures that have fallen over. A hallway leads out of the room and turns to the right that leads to a set of double doors. A 12-foot lizardman statue stands in front of the door armed with a large sword.
They decide to face the golem. Katiya conjures a warrior, and they get buffed with aid and prayer in preparation. As they step into the hallway, a magical effect goes off, catching Artec. He is slowed. Artec, Hamish, Yavin, and the conjured warrior move up to engage it. The battle doesn’t last very long, and Artec lands the killing blow. They claim its large obsidian sword.
They open the double doors. A staircase goes down into a massive rooms with giant pillars. On either side of the stairway are pools with flowing water. The water is leaking into the room, so it’s full of water to a depth of 2 feet. They throw a light stone into it and realize that the water is much deeper than it appears. Hamish steps down the stairs, and a number of large slugs moving down from the fountain toward him. The warrior kills the slugs. While he’s doing that, five tentacles lash out at it from around the wall, pulling it out of range of Katiya. The warrior pops. Artec hits a tentacle with an arrow before it withdraws them all. Then the creature’s head pops out of the water and shoots a jet of acid at the party. Artec continues shooting at it. The acid starts to burn their skin, so Idky casts cloudburst to wash it all off. In the meantime, Hamish closes the door. They reopen it, and the creature is waiting for them.
Hamish removes two tentacles. Yavin mind thrusts, and it responds with a psychic crush! Artec finishes it off with his arrows.
