The heroes (Idky, Yavin, Athos, Artec, and Katya) continue exploring the citadel in the city of reddish-marble on the green-skied world of Torsh...
Athos is able to figure out how to disarm the magical traps on the thresholds by placing a piece of metal across the threshold. The trap focuses its heat on the metal, allowing the party to pass through. The heroes enter the armory first. Yavin says that no one has been in the room for over 20,000 years. Everything has rotted or rusted away. They enter the forge to explore it. Except for the forge, which has runes around its base, everything is similarly decayed or rusted. There are pinkish gold metal bars on a table. They are pretty heavy, a bit lighter than lead. There is a mark on their ends that looks like a dragon rising out of the ocean. Katiya casts read magic on the runes and discovers that the runes were there for the purpose of funneling magical energy into objects. This represents a different tact to magical weapon creation that what the heroes have heard of. The forge itself obviously has a spell on it.
They return to the armory to go through an untrapped doorway to explore. They come to a new kind of trap with an opaque force field, and Athos is unable to figure this one out. The find another armory and a traditional forge. They go back to the other trap and Idky tries to dispel it. It fails. They continue exploring another arm of that floor.
They run into more lizardmen wraiths. Six of them attack the party. They kill them all, but Artec has been permanently drained of a level. They formulate a plan to get Yavin into outer space, but it requires Yavin to be able to maintain telepathic contact with the party while they’re inside the enchanted building. So he and Artec head outside the building, and there are six triceratop-like creatures in the courtyard. The half-orcish archer and telepathic cleric wait for the creatures to depart but for naught as Yavin’s telepathy isn’t able to penetrate the building.
Katiya, however, is able to conjure an invisible shelter for them to camp out in while they wait. Katiya conjures a griffon steed for her and Yavin to fly up on. Idky lighten loads everyone and casts endure heat on Yavin, Katiya, Artec, and himself. Yavin and Katiya and Yavin take off. Yavin has to cast create air a couple of times, and Katiya has to summon another griffon steed. After getting to the desired height, Yavin makes telepathic contact with Idky and casts dimensional fold to bring Idky and Artec to him. Yavin casts restoration on them both to give them back their lost levels.
While up there, Yavin communes with Celestian and finds out there is a human settlement on the planet, but it is far away from the city. They also find out that the portal they found in the building is not one they should use, but there are usable gates to the east and west within two weeks’ journey, and DEFINITELY to the east. They find that almost there are almost definitely creatures to the east they could use to form a bloodstone. So they now have a direction in which to head.
Per Yavin's suggestion, the heroes simply "fall" back to Oerth. It takes a shove from the cleric of Celestian to overcome the microgravity at first, but the heroes rocket back from over 60 miles above the planet, protected by the earlier spells. Unfortunately, they are off course as they re-enter and they land just off the coast about five to ten miles to the east of the city in the early afternoon. The four then hike back to the city and make it well after nightfall.
