After some discussion, mediation, and psi healing, Mikhail uses his psionic power to probability travel to shift the party (Mikhail, Cedric, Adama, Glorianna, Marc, and Demetrius) between realities, back to the "fused glass" world. The mist in the portal is still blue with silver lightning even after five hours. The party nonetheless walks through the portal, holding hands with the lightning damaging Cedric as he attempts it. Marc (in second position) stops the rest of the party and they do not go through.
Cedric uses his precognition ability to determine that the gate mist will not change anytime within the next 12 hours! The heroes decide to walk off toward the glow on the horizon to see what it might be, which they do after casting some endure colds. They notice that it gets a bit warmer and brighter. After an hour, the glow (the sun) is blindingly brilliant. They turn back and notice that the sun doesn’t seem to be rising. They decide to planeshift back to the previous world again, but Mikhail “misses” it and appear on some other world. Mikhail thinks they are in an alternate reality, because it’s also a desert with very similar conditions. So Mikhail just planeshifts again . . . this time to the purple desert world.
The sand is pink with a purple sky that smells of spices, especially cinnamon. Glorianna hates it! The heroes eat goodberries as their meal for the day, and Marc casts create water. Glorianna casts detect balance to see if the local nature is “off.” After a couple hours, a storm start brewing on the horizon, and it’s getting lighter. Mikhail attempts to take them all to the border ethereal before the storm hits. He almost “misses”! They stay ethereal for six hours and head back after the storm passes. It’s now light out, and the world actually looks very nice. It smells like cinnamon.
With the area lit by sunlight, Mikhail teleports with Marc and Cedric to the distant mountains to scout them out and maybe gather firewood. They see a vast city in the distance. There are several ships floating over it. Mikhail identifies them as spelljammers. He teleports back and brings the women too. Marc notices there are no avians, but very large, brightly colored bugs. They decide to have Mikhail teleport them to the city, although after the young druid rests a few hours to regain his psionic strength.
Mikhail takes Adama and Glorianna first. They appear in a restaurant in a very tall building. A man approaches and speaks to them in an unknown language, motioning them first to the door, and then to a table. They sit and get handed a menu that they can’t read. Glorianna finds out the waiter speaks Elvish. Since they have no Saphiran coins, the three are directed to a transport tube that they can take to the money changers.
There are two ogres there. Adama instinctively draws her scimitars. The ogres aim crossbows at them. Mikhail tells her that they don’t intend her any harm. An indigo bipedal humanoid feline with four arms greets them and informs them that weapons are not allowed in fine establishments on Saphira. So they leave their weapons with Adama while Mikhail and Glorianna go exploring.
There is a bewildering assortment of races: winged monkey-like creatures, gnomes, half-ogres, crats, lizardmen-like creatures, bugmen, gorllia-men, indigo dwarves with white hair, etc. Mikhail spots a temple of Thoth and a Nereganti temple complex. They decide to check out the Nereganti complex. Ptah seems to be heavily worshiped here.
Meanwhile, Cedric manages to make telepathic contact with a small rodent and discovers that it can displace. He befriends and makes it his pet. Mikhail comes to collect them and brings them to the temple, but they need to change their money into “credits.” So they head to the money changer. Glorianna kindly changes enough money for Cedric’s cure critical wounds spell. In exchange, he agrees to later help her clear out monsters in Ahlissa.
They get a guide to a cartographer shop, where gnomes help them find Oerth so Mikhail can get them back there later. The gnomes tell them it could take a couple months to spelljam there. They buy a spelljamming map of the systems around Saphira. They head back to the temple, so Marc and Cedric get their curative spells. After getting some food in the city, they blink back to the desert.
From there, Mikhail once again misses on his planeshift (this time on a tundra), so he shifts them again. He again misses and ends up on a world with large white bipedal rabbits riding dinosaurs. His last jump brings them back to the fused glass world. The mist is now blue, but 30 seconds later it changes to gray. It changes to blue with silver lightning and stays there for another full day.
The party sticks around until it shifts to umber, and they go through. Nothing happens. They try to go through two more times. It works on the third time, and they are back on Sunev. The gate is gray. They jump back through to a small rocky plateau floating in an immense night sky but clearly quite a bit smaller than any other world. A chunk of the gate on this side is missing with vapors slowly rising up out of it. The mist is dark blue.
And the heroes are surrounded by borg...!
