The heroes (Zylvanar with Leia, Shyana with Celeni, Baghsheer, Wynd and Thunder, Arod, Demetrius, Arod, Doby, Draegar, and Jacob) have fought their way into the mouth of the borg-infested sea cavern. Unfortunately, Jacob and Demetrius are both down in the surf, drowning, with the psi infected with the borg-disease. Meanwhile, the sharks have bitten off Doby's left foot and Leia's leg at the knee. And Baghsheer's hip is barely functional. Accordingly, Shyanagrabs Demetrius and Doby grabs Jacob, bringing them back to Gamoth and Mikhail. While the druids patch up the fallen, Adama decides to take the offensive (big surprise) and join the party. That's when ten more borg, one with a bow and two with grenade-slingshots show up...!
The borg decided Arod is a threat and sink a special arrow into the elf. Meanwhile, they rain grenades into the lion and cooshee, nearly killing Zylvanar and Cedric in the process. Adama causes one to borg to explode and the shrapnel damages several of the others. The animals and Wynd charge into to fight while Arod, Cedric, and Zylvanar are down. Draegar's arrows prove helpful with stragglers and the heroes maintain their foothold. The druids move up and tend the wounded, saving both Cedric and Arod. Gamoth and Mikhail agree to hold the cave mouth while the heroes continue to seek out the monsters from beyond Oerth...
Wynd uses a find traps but Cedric has a vision of the future -- the party trapped behind a trap "that is not a trap". They follow a side passage into deepening water and suddenly a strange wall of force appears behind them, cutting of their escape. Then first one and then a second giant octopus lurches out from the deeper end of the cavern, nailed Adama as well as Arod and Cedric. The psi is caught, but stuns the first monster with a psionic blast. Then the second creature nails her in the head. Zylvanar lights then both up with faerie fire but several heroes are caught. Arod, however, thinks quickly and draws his bow and his arrow of sea-monster slaying. His shaft goes through the brain of one and Draegar's arrows finish it off, though the heroes can't tell. Adama recovers and telekinetically lifts first one and then the other octopus out of the depths, so the heroes can hack them in turn into chum. Ahead, however, is another wall of force, blocking their way and trapping them.
Using the last of Mikhail's link with Thunder, they explain the problem. Gamoth attempts a dispel magic to no effect. So, he just melts the cavern wall with a rock to mud. The heroes take a different passage and continue.
Soon they're battling ten borg, including one that uses a protein disruptor on Adama and Cedric. Adama telekinetically launches a grenade at the lot, her ballistic attack taking out several. Wynd and Draegar then mop up the rest with Thunder and Arod's help. Ahead is a large cavern and ten borg come to intercept, but the heroes destroy them. Beyond is a chamber above the water, filled with metal plates and blinking jewels and runes. The heroes battle to the finish, Thunder blocking one entry, Zyl a second, and Cedric and then Adama the third. Finally, the heroes are down to the last borg, a female wearing the same black armor the two original ones were wearing. She's armed with a primitive protein disruptor, as if it were built of spare parts. She catches Arod and Adama in it, nearly killing the elf and causing several of his internal organs to rupture, but the heroes make short work of her for her efforts.
Mission accomplished!
Eeps: 7400xps each PLUS 1000xps per previous game, for those PCs present at the end (ONLY!) thus:
Zyl, Wynd, (only 1/2 for Thunder), Arod: 6k
Draegar: 4k
Adama: 1k
Gamoth is able to save a couple of borg and Mikhail would like to rest, then bring one or two to his mentor for questioning....
Each PC on the game for more than two runs should consider yourself KNOWN to the Eastern Druids, especially Gamoth, Daniel O'Shea, the Three Artemisians (Narrisa of the Wood, Apollonia Gallatia, and Aelvira Leafcloak), and the rest. It's actually NOT worth social level cuz so few people know, but the Druids of the East (note, the capital letter) do...
