The heroes (Zylvanar, Baghsheer, Wynd and Thunder, Arod, Demetrius, Arod, and Doby) decide after much debate to head north and attempt to overtake and slay that group of borg. Shyana stayed behind with her lion and Leia to coordinate with the three Druidesses while Daniel O'Shea headed inland to use his remaining entangles to kill the other two groups as well as warn the villages in their path.
The group leaves around 10am and given that most of the heroes are either elves or have amazing stamina, made excellent time. Around 1pm Demetrius felt as if he was being watched, but the sensation passed and no one else felt it. Around 2pm, the group reached an abandoned town. Wynd could tell that the borg entered, but never left.
Turning himself invisible, the elven ranger/cleric scouted the town. He found two borg on watch outside the smithy, with more borg inside. Wynd went back and reported to the party. Arod and Doby with Baghsheer headed to take on one sentry while Draegar with Zyl, Demetrius, and Thunder went to take on the other. Wynd, meanwhile watches the battle from a third location, still cloaked by his spell. At Wynd's bird call, Arod and Doby started shooting, but the borg seemed ready. Not that it saved that borg from death...
The other group was not as lucky. Draegar and Zylvanar tripped a wire and a claymore-like explosion nearly took them both out. That borg then shot Draegar again, dropping him. Demetrius moved to protect the pair, but the borg assimilated the hapless wizard. Six more borg then marched out of the smithy...
Arod thought quickly and used his last spell to grease the borg moving to take out Zyl and Draegar, stopping two. He and Doby, as well as Baghsheer had jumped to the top of the inn, giving them some protection from the borg. A couple tosses strange blades at Doby, but the elven archer rained arrows of death into the cyborgs, killing two. Baghsheer leapt down and killed the one directly menacing Demetrius, giving Zyl a chance to save the mage. The remaining two borg simply assimilated Draegar.
Working quickly, the heroes made short work on the remaining borg, mostly via arrow fire. Wynd noted that a single borg was unaccounted for and Thunder quickly located and ran it down, killing it easily. Zylvanar administred Daniel O'Shea's cure and for almost two minutes there was no visible sign that either Draegar or Demetrius had been assimilated. When Draegar's skin began to turn pale, however, Wynd used his last cure disease to save his fellow elf.
A couple minutes passed and Demetrius quickly succumbed to the borg infection. Baghsheer knocked the mage to the bring of death, effectively putting him into a coma with Zyl and Wynd's assistance. They then marched the six hours back to Glowerhaven, periodically checking on the wizard who was nearly transformed, but remained unconscious thanks to the mystic of Nog and two healers.
Around 8pm, the heroes reached town where they were greeted by a fully-healed Leia as well as Gamoth. Daniel and the three Druidesses of Artemis were off chasing the straggling borg, to contain the threat these creatures posed. Gamoth had taken control of the wolves that Daniel had summoned and was using them as an early-warning system in case the borg returned. Meanwhile, he had fully healed Shyana and her lion and offered his remaining spells to the heroes, starting off by cure diseasing Demetrius. The Spartan wizard miraculously survived with a number of broken ribs, internal organ damage, and unusually-light scaring.
The heroes settled in to rest and recover, disturbed a few hours later by someone appearing in their camp. The young man spoke a few words to the wolves and Wynd recognized Mikhail. The druid was quite concerned. As the heroes explained what had happened and caught him up on events, he interrupted and asked them if they could "feel" what he was feeling. The elves, Gamoth, and animals were all confused. It was then that Mikhail said he hadn't planned to reunite with the party, but rather from his home over a thousand miles distant in Klarr, he could feel a telepathic sensation in this region. Given that Mikhail is one of Oerth's most sensitive empaths as well as animal telepaths, the young druid determined that someone was broadcasting telepathic communication to sharks, rays, and fish in the area. Given the proximity of an active dimensional gate, Mikhail was concerned and teleported near the source, bringing along his older sister, a fellow psi, in case the threat proved to be mind flayer or the like. Whatever this telepathic signal means, Mikhail has never heard of anything like it and it is without a doubt a wide-spread phenomena localized near Glowerhaven...
