Thursday, August 2nd, 2012 aka 619/7/6

The heroes (Shyana, her lion, Zylvanar, Baghsheer, Wynd and Thunder, Arod, Demetrius, Arod, and Doby) decided to leave town and rest. As they leave the ruins of the inn they'd been staying in, the meet back up with Draegar, who had been separated from the group earlier. The elf joins up and the heroes head inland to the West. After about an hour, Zyl and Baghsheer have the feeling that they're being watched and a few moments later a portly, jovial man dressed in white and armed with a simple cudgel steps out of a tree. It is Daniel O'Shea, Druid of O'Shalm and ally of Gamoth's. He's used commune with nature to locate four squads of borg headed away from the main settlement, each moving toward a refuge community...! Daniel heals the heroes up and accompanies them back to Glowerhaven, near where the main borg cave is located. The Druid explains that "the three bitches" will be along soon, but that it would be best to deal with this threat as much as possible before they arrive.

The group heads back to the borg sea-cave. Arod scouts ahead invisibily and notices some borg "slingers" as well as a few milling about in the main entrance. The elf tries to lure the borg out, but they choose not to go. He flied off and flies back, only to discover that the borg "slingers" are using torc grenades! The explosion of the first volley sends the elf unconscious into the surf and it's only Doby (and his ability to run on water) that saves Arod...! Meanwhile, only Wynd, Thunder, and Baghsheer charge in initially, just after Daniel animal growths all the critters plus the seven wolves he'd summoned.

A borg slinger nails Baghsheer with a torc grenade and Demetrius saves the mystic. Meanwhile Doby's arrows and Thunder take out those on the ledge. Wynd waits and watches, but none of the borg seem aware of the elf. Zyl and Shyana move in, using faerie fire and sun dazzle to support the fighters -- Draegar, Doby, Leia aka Queen Kong, Wynd and Thunder. The borg slowly start to overwhelm the heroes, even though Wynd and Thunder carve a path of destruction and the carnivorous apes is shattering borg left and right. Once Arod rejoins the fight, he finds himself trading arrows with an elf-borg using arrows to inject nanoprobes! Doby is infected by a strike just as Arod and Baghsheer get nanoprobe-arrows. Demetrius and Draegar are likewise nailed. The heroes beat a quick retreat, with Wynd using obscurement and Zyl destroy water to give Leia a chance to escape.

On the beach, Daniel tosses a firestorm into the cave before exhausting the last of his spells curing everyone, though Doby and Demetrius bear permanent scars from their ordeal (pending a heal spell) and Draeger not only has disfiguring scars (-2 CHR) but finds his body isn't functioning normally, preventing him from continuing the fight. A commune with nature reveals four borg groups heading out, with nothing to stop them from reaching the nearby towns...

It's now 10am and the heroes are back in Glowerhaven. Next move?

Two things --

One, I realized why the times and dates weren't lining up; I screwed up on this thread and then kept the screw up. It's now fixed everywhere (this game is going on in JULY, after the summer Moot and Gamoth's return from the Underdark), sorry for any confusion.

Two, what is the heroes' next move? Are you going to rest or are you going to try and track-down some of the roving borg parties? You know that you move faster, so it would be reasonable to overtake the group headed north and/or south along the coast as those have clear destinations. Daniel is effectively out of spells (he has 1st lvls left) but he would be willing to accompany the group or PREFERABLY fly ahead to warn the towns in the borgs' path. It's obvious that simple villages are no match for these creatures and they will only "recruit" more of themselves.

If you do choose to head after the borg, Daniel wants someone to stay behind to talk with Narissa, Apollonia, and Aelvira when they arrive. Conveniently, Draegar is in no shape to move and Leia isn't much better. She could stay behind to look after the elf and make contact with the three Druids.

If you choose NOT to head after the borg, keep in mind the number of people who will be horribly slain AND become future foes as a result. Mostly defenseless townsfolk...I'd think anyone with a G in their alignment would be very sore-pressed NOT to "X-Men it" and at least save one village (or more!). Keep in mind, in the woods and at range, your party of elves, druids, and archers again has the advantage...

I say we go north. We are heros to those people and should not let them down. If we keep hitting them with ranged fire in a hit and run approach we should be fine. We only need fear the grenades and rockets if they have any.

Zyl suggests going south cuz we know the territory already (we came through there on the way to here) and should therefore have a better idea where to ambush as well as not get surprised. Otherwise, both he and Baghsheer totally agree with the concept that "we're the heroes" and it's our job to save people...

I thought we came from the north. I would suggest going the way we came from. I guess not being in my forest has me all confused.

Never take a ride with an unknown druid. They ask you to get them magic items and then leave you stranded in a strange land infested with things from the future. Not even a thank you. I think he needs a good impotence spell.

Mikhail dropped the party in Medegia. You guys have been making your way North along the coast toward the Great Kingdom and Rel Astra for several weeks. Therefore, a backtrack would be heading South.
