The heroes (Aiden, Raguel, Demeter, Esmerelda, and "Meep") spent the night in the tomb of the wizard. In the morning, they heard a commotion outside and went to investigate. There they saw the paladin Ferdinand battling ghouls while a gnome, Blueberry the illusionist, tried to stay safe. Soon more ghouls arrived, but so too did a young boy, Dante, on the back on an immense griffon, Xon. The heroes ultimately vanquished the undead, although the griffon was too wounded to fly. The boy had no choice but to join the group, although Ferdinand was not to helpful.
The heroes began exploring and found a room full of sleeping orcs. Unfortunately, Raguel couldn't force his way into the room, allowing the orcs at the door the chance to buy enough time for the rest of the creatures to rouse and arm themselves. The battle was fierce and quite close with only Raquel, Esmereld, and Meep finishing the battle on their feet. During the battle, the boy was mortally wounded and despite the witch's efforts, was still bleeding out. That's when a pair of adventurers arrived. One was a stocky, red-haired (and bearded) fighter-type clad as a mage. The other was a more slender, blond (and bearded) man in a white tunic and bearing the lightning bolt symbol of Zeus; Allyrion set about healing Dante and the other wounded while Brand took stock of the situation. The pair restored the rest of the party and spent the night in the foyer with their son (and griffon) before flying to the defense of Tassin's Wood in the morning.
The heroes explored further and found secret doors hiding a number of additional crypts. One was guarded by a pair of ceramic guardians and an explosive runes that claimed Raguel's life and nearly got the rest of the party (Brand's stoneskin saved Demeter...!). The heroes tried everything but lacked the fighting support to defeat the automata.
The group hiked back to town and found four new party members: Urthur, a naive, brawny, and hickish youth, Ulfrick, a Norsk runecaster, Hagar, a voracious mountain of a norseman, and Ox aka Don Giovanni di Rosetti, an Ahlissan warrior. Together the group returned to the tomb and destroyed the warriors. Within one tomb, Esmerelda set off a sepia snake and in another the two norsemen were trapped behind a deadfall. While struggling to free them, ghouls nearly finished off the heroes again. The party did manage to save the warriors, but they were too weak from their ordeal to move. Meanwhile, Aiden took the body of the mage the party was truly looking for and it began to decay...
Meep flew back to the priest of Bast for aid, but he turned the kenku down. It then bought a cart and oxen, but after a day and a half through the woods, ghouls slaughtered the animals and the avian-man barely escaped. The heroes made litters and walked for half a day before harnassing the burlier heroes to the cart and returning to town, slaying six more ghouls on the way.
The high priest then cast speak with dead on the wizard and the heroes learned the location of his tower. Together the cleric and party returned to the tomb, reintured the body, and saved Esmerelda. The group then returned, quite a bit late, to Alcastra to report what they had learned...
