The heroes (Clod, Zylvanar, Shyana, Draegar, Gazer, Baghsheer, and Swaying Oak) spend the night with the local Medegian tyrant before returning to the trolls' lair. Joining them is an odd man named Akom, a paladin of the Nereganti god of the sun, Ra. Zylvanar greets the man warmly as the paladin is also extremely dark-skinned, albeit with golden colored eyes. Together the party enters through the secret passage and explore a good chunk of the warren of tunnels before coming to a massive chamber off of the inside of a purplish-quartz geode. There the heroes battle and somehow manage to defeat five more trolls before searching the lair. In the process, they meet and battle a huge troll wearing a crown of rib-bones bound with chainmail!
The group finds the treasure of the trolls and searching farther finds a magical fountain from which most everyone drinks.
Akom, formerly a towering mountain of muscle shrinks and gets fatter, seemingly more foolish in the bargain as well. He does seem temporarily immune to symbols though...
Swaying Oak finds he can now jump about more effectively than Baghsheer.
Gazer gains fantastic levels of hand-eye coordination and agility.
Draegar's bloodline becomes charged with magic, but only his future children will feel that benefit.
Clod loses his ears and all ability to hear
Shyana falls deeply in love with Zyl, gaining insight from her goddess in the process.
Zylvanar gains immunity to the power of shadows as well as disease.
Baghsheer gains super-human health and endurance as well as the blessing of his gods.
The group then finds and rescues a group of future food for the trolls. Included in the group is the daughter of another local tyrant and two of her ladies in waiting. After feasting with the tyrant Mikhail had the heroes placate, the party then traveled on to village of this other tyrant where they were again feasted. En route, a band of thugs ambushed the heroes, but they quickly and easily put the lot down.
As the night comes, a summer storm blows in...
