The heroes (Idky, Yavin, Arthur, Athos, Artec, Hamish, and Katya) realize that the scroll they got from the shaman is actually a map. Yavin and Idky recognize it as K’Thoi. Idky casts comprehend languages on the map and finds that it maps out portals between sites on some world (this one?). It also lists colors in a side note:
Purple
Black & silver
Umber
Iridescent
Maroon
Light-blue
Deep purple
Tan & gold
Brown & yellow
Turquoise *
Grey *
Pink & white
Sparkling gold
Olive green *
They heal up and nap. Arthur inspects the translucent stone of the temple walls. He also goes with Hamish to inspect the altar on a dais in an adjoining room. Apparently, live sacrifices once occurred here. Yavin says it was an offerings chamber. Arthur casts know history on the altar, with Yavin in telepathic tow. He finds out they are on Torsh, and it is the altar of the Lord of All. Yavin identifies Torsh as the home of the lizardmen, and he isn’t happy about it. The entire city, the stone, is magical. It’s been enchanted, but super low-level. The city was built 45,000 years ago as a replacement capital.
Arthur then also casts the spell on the room itself. This is where people in the court maneuvered to impress the Lord of All. They would bring the most exotic creatures for him to eat. It was a way to show superiority, by eating them. A few of the rulers even died from eating things, so a 19th level wizard enchanted the room to protect them from dangerous food substances. Some rulers actually got slain by their intended food. Sometimes, subjects who were inappropriate were eaten in front of their families.
The next room was a vomitorium. The enter the foyer with doorways off of it. The doorways lead into a larger room with shelves. It appears to be an administrative area. They then move over to massive double doors. They only manage to budge it open a little, so Idky attempts to stone shape it to extrude it a bit more. Unfortunately, he gets sick and passes out. And the spell didn’t work. He comes around in three minutes. It felt to him like the spell rebounded back at him.
They move to another set of double doors. Artec budges it open a few inches, and they can see a gate on the other side. It is sparkling gold. It changes to red after a short time. They decide to abandon the door for now to continue exploring. They head upstairs into a huge arched chamber with a transparent stone wall. Yavin says this is a spelljamming landing pad.
They encounter four lizardmen wraiths as they explore a corridor. Two more join them, whom Hamish engages. Katiya summons a warrior to help out Athos. Artec also helps out. Two more show up. Arthur fly to cast a lightning bolt. Three more show up. Idky casts a prayer. Hamish is surrounded by wraiths and allows Arthur to lightning bolt him to catch all the wraiths. They all manage to survive, as does Hamish (it did pretty low damage). Artec starts shooting arrows at the surviving wraiths on Hamish. They finish up the wraiths, but Arthur, Yavin, Athos have lost a level each. Idky lost two. They explore the area and find no other wraiths or creatures in that wing.
They find 2 sp and 17 gp (K’Thoi)
They head up the spiral staircase. The next level has some rooms with magically trapped thresholds.
