The heroes (Clod, Zylvanar, Gilgamesh, Nikaris, Shyana, and Draegar) encountered a fighter/cleric of Corellon, an elf named Gazer, sent by the elves watching the Shrine of St Darias. Gazer was immediately distrustful of Zylvanar, but Shyana spoke up for the drow and the group agreed to work together to deal with the troglodytes.
The cats lept onto the roof of the rectory while the other heroes bashed down the door, but the building was empty. They then continued on into the chapel, but still no monsters. Finally, Shyana triggered a wyvern watch and in the distance, the heroes heard chanting...
After about a minute, a huge troglodyte armed with a glowing, green hammer arrived. Clod and Nikaris intercepted it before it got up the stairs but Gazer's arrows simply bounced off. Nikaris' claws, however, did not! Soon more troglodytes, mostly young, swarmed up to melee the heroes. Too late the party realized they were dealing with a chant that hindered their fighting ability. Meanwhile, the huge trog was impervious to non-magical weapons. Luckily, however, Nikaris bit it on the head and stunned it, giving the black jaguar a chance to slaughter the creature. Still, it took over a minute of chewing and slashing...!
Gazer with support from Gilgamesh charged into the swarm of troglodytes below. The pair did well, although the tiger was forced to retreat. Shyana and Zylvanar tended his wounds, but about this point, more trogs poured in through the shattered rectory door. Draegar's arrows took out a couple and Clod charged to the attack. Then the main door came down and several more trogs arrived, included warriors the heroes had previously bested! The battle went wild...Gazer dropped below as Nik scared off the remaining adolescent trogs. Above, Gilgamesh went down, followed by Draegar. Zyl took a couple out, but was seriously wounded when Shyana also fell. Nikaris leapt back into the fray and slaughtered or scared away the rest. The drow tended to the wounded but lacked the strength to move them. He did find several potions on the huge trog and tried them with Nikaris. One was invulnerability and the black jaguar quaffed this half potion and disappeared into the crypt below, return several minutes later to report that the priest and all the remaining trogs were dead.
The group waited several hours until Shyana came conscious. The cleric of Hanali Celanil used her magic to restore the other party members, including Gazer, who Zyl had spent five hours tending to. The group had the hammer and moved off into the woods to rest and recover.
On the following morning, they headed back to Greyhawk, spending the night in Oakpoint before crossing from West End under cover of darkness. Because the gate to the Black Quarter is closed after nightfall and because Gilgamesh had already been ejected from the Green Griffon, the heroes decided to spend the night at the Soggy Sailor, where they met a strange little man from a far away land. His name is Baghsheer and he completely trounced another warrior in a match. Baghsheer said he was a mage looking for a party and Shyana invited him to join them.
The group traveled on to Two-Ford, where Daj's cabin is. The two cats went looking for Bethsheba while the other heroes heard that Lord Blackfair was in need of heroes to deal with (yet another) strange monster from the Cairn Hills. The heroes decided to help, although the cats were busy looking for Gilgamesh's twin.
Six days at the edge of a vineyard paid off and the group battled and defeated three bandy-tailed fighting cocks -- 15' tall, four legged chicken with powerful claws that are stronger than steal and the power to breathe poison gas. The heroes got 100gp bounty per cock and went looking for more. Zyl used his druidic skills to convince two blood hounds the party bought to follow the trail.
The group spend a week in the Cairn Hills, looking for the monsters' lair and returning. En route, they met a small pack of wild dogs that joined the druid, a spotted lioness and her cubs, two more bandy-tailed fighting cocks, and something that briefly tailed the party but wasn't visible and didn't interact with them. By 5/27 they left Two-Ford, Nikaris and Gilgamesh remaining behind to wait for Bethsheba.
The heroes arrived at Klarr late on 6/8.
