She is a pure Suloise female, age twenty-six, standing six feet-two (no, really!) and weighing a hundred seventy pounds, graceful and willow-slender, with red-gold hair tumbling past her shoulders. Her eyes are her best feature, deep violet, enought to drown in. Her skin is smoothest alabaster (like, really pale, and she doesn't tan well, okay?). Her bearing is erect, almost soldierly, and haughty, almost as if she was used to towering over everyone. Her typical clothing closely resembles harem pyjamas (which for some reason is pretty standard for young female mages, lord knows why), generally in solid colors, as is the Suloise preference. Her favorite colors are blues and violets.
Suloise to the bone, Ulaanbaatar is arrogant, argumentative, and stubborn. She is brutally honest and direct, utterly self-centered (self-ORIENTED!), completely without concern for other peoples' sensibilities, and genuinely suprised if they resent it. She isn't particularly religious, although she knows that gods, exist, she doesn't feel any compelling reason to worship, of even pay attention to them. She considers Wee-jas to be less tedious than most, and occasionally sends her gifts.
She considers herself to be lawful by nature, but has difficulty understanding why nobody else seems to have any idea what lawfulness IS. Neutral, she is not OPPOSED to Good, she merely considers it... restrictive.
She is highly intelligent (wayyy too smart for her own good, if you want ot know the truth of it), and considers herself crafty and two steps ahead of everyone else, but since she is afflicted with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD, or shiny object syndrome), she is easily distracted, often forgetful, and not very observant.
She enjoys reading. She will read anything... words in a row... but she especially enjoys engineering texts, histories (particularly Gnomish and Suloise), magical lore, and turgid romances. She likes to collect and admire jewelry (although she keeps forgetting where she keeps it), and to dress up in fine clothes. Still a virgin, she has a vivid (and lurid) imaginary sex life. To unwind, she likes napping, and blowing things up.
Ulaanbaatur is a Magic User because... well, because she CAN be. She is, after all, Suloise, with all of that race's affinity for magic. Her sling skill enables her to participate in combat without exposing her to sharp things (which she prefers to avoid). Her other skills reflect her interests and talent for reading, languages and history.
She enjoys the smell of roses... and books. She LOVES the smell of books, the feel of the pages beneath her fingers. She is fond of the rustle of satin, the sparkle of gems, the silken sheen and solid weight of gold, and the company of books. Did I mention books?
She formed no close relationships since leaving home. She and her mentor were in a party of adventurers which fell into an ambush from which she was the only survivor. Soon after that, she fell in with another band of adventurers, a useful but contentious lot, who helped her save the world from the Apocolyse, but she did not allow herself to become close, lest she be hurt by loss.
She regards magic users as potential enemies, and non-magic users as, well... furniture. She has no surviving enemies. She wouldn't.
Ulaanbaatar was raised in a Gnomish community in the Kron Hills, south of Verbobonc, where her family has resided as Gnome-friends for some twelve centuries, after fleeing the destruction of the Suloise Empire by the Rain of Colorless Fire. She left her home to begin her campaign to rid Oerth of Evil magic users (first).
Part 2, an interview...
A horse? A HORSE? You ARE kidding, right?
Death? death is for suckers. That's why I have the footsoldiers in front of me. They protect me, I shoot the bad guys, and the clerics repair the damage.
Being loved is better. Fear makes someone careful, and I prefer careless targets.
I'm into all this for the experience, so I can grow in skill and power, and one day kill off the last Evil magic user.
Someone hurts MY people, they diy. Simple. Someone hurts my people BADLY, they die... slower.
Reincarnation would be okay if I needed it. I don't think I'd change any.
I wasn't spoiled as a child, just well taken care of. I liked to read, and I was kinda gawky till I got used to being taller than everyone. I DID live among a lot of Gnomes, y'know...
I wasn't close to anyone, really. I had my books. YOU people have your little friends... III had staff.
Hunt down, stalk and slay without mercy? Hmm. Why, that would be... well, anyone who was evil, of course...
or... maybe anyone who pissed me off enough.
My strongest trait? well, I always know what needs to be done. Noone else ever does. YOU might think I'm arrogant for saying so, but I'm just... better.
I can express contempt. I'm REALLY good at contempt.
Wee-jas and I get along just fine. I don't bother her, she doesn't bother me, and everything is just dandy. I send her gifts every now and then.
My first kill was in a fight. All I felt at the time was RUSHED. I was VERY busy. Later, I shook. It was a monster, not a human, or even an animal, so I shrugged it off. No big thing.
Well, saving the world from the Apocalypse was a big thing. My minions WERE helpful, then. I don't play on it.
(At this point, the interviewee stood up. She said,
"Bored now. Leaving,"
and could not be persuaded to return).
