Wandering through the jungle, the heroes (Maedhros, Daj, Helga, Saanau, Cliffy, Moonlight, Black Robe, Jamal, and Willish) encounter a dark elf and a gargoyle. Daj quickly establishes that this particular drow is actually her old friend, Mizzrie. The other heroes are dubious that the half-dryad just "happens" upon her friend on another world, somehow within the Valley of Spirits. But then, that's when everything went crazy...
Mizzrie is carrying around a piece of Ghaunadaur. While they are talking with her, a nearby tree’s branch "happens" to fall, knocking it out of her pouch. The shard lands on a rock and shatters, releasing an avatar of Ghaunadaur in the form of a gigantic slug!
Black Robe calls up a prayer, Maedhros casts protection from evil 10’, and Saanau attempts wizard’s wrath but her spell can’t pierce magic resistance. The fighter-types all attack. Alef-Thau quaffs a potion of trollish regeneration. The slug lashes out with ten tentacles. They get stuck in a number of party members.
Cliffy casts lightning bolt but can’t pierce magic resistance. Maedhros casts enlarge on Alef-Thau. He shreds one tentacle off the stunned Daj.
Ghaunadaur blinds about half the party. Alef-Thau continues to attack, now enlarged. The rest continue to try to free themselves from tentacles. Moonlight casts cloudburst in an attempt to clear the vapors around the god so spells and other attacks can be used against it. It works! The god power word, stuns Daj and Saanau. Moonlight realizes that the heroes' blindness is because they just don’t have eyes anymore!
The fog is reforming now. Cliffy magic missiles tentacles to try to free party members. Maedhros casts telepathy on Cliffy so he can borrow his eyesight. Ghaunadaur mirror images himself, but a Helga-assisted lightning bolt from Maedhros pops half of the images and even hits the god itself! Hits and magic missiles take out the rest of the images.
Moonlight gets his eyes back by shapechanging into an owl, but his human form still doesn’t have eyes. 8-P Ghaunadaur heals itself and regenerates all of its tentacles. More lightning bolt teamwork between Helga and Maedhros gets rid of five tentacles.
Moonlight, who can sense the other spirit- or god-touched party members, goes to cure serious wounds on the stunned Daj. Ghaunadaur lashes out with its five tentacles, then casts magic missiles at EVERYone who’s still standing. It interrupts Black Robe’s wrath of the heavens spell. =8-O
Helga gets enlarged by Maedhros. But she then gets enwrapped by tentacles. Ghaunadaur calls down a limited wish, but (because he can only speak one word and Daj’s bad luck effect) everyone (including the party) gets FULLY healed (except Alef-Thau). Willish turns into a bat. Cliffy takes the tentacles off Helga with an improved magic missile.
Maedhros attempts to drop a wall of ice on the slug, but it does no damage. Saanau and Helga cooperate to direct another lightning bolt at the god and seven tentacles. Black Robe cloudbursts the enshrouding mist away. Alef-Thau goes down. Helga gets enwrapped by another tentacle.
Confusion from the god catches Cliffy, Jamal, Misery, Willish, Moonlight, Saanau. Helga clears herself of the tentacle. Black Robe casts dispel magic. It removes blindness and confusion on some party members, but also removes the prayer, stoneskins and Maedhros’ telepathy. Helga cooperates with Daj (now un-stunned) with another lightning bolt, but she couldn’t pierce its resistance.
Cliffy rushes up to physically attack Ghaunadaur. Willish resumes human form. Ghaunadaur casts Otto’s irresistible dance on Helga. Cliffy runs off looking for “weed.” Maedhros telepathically tells him he has some to bring him back. Unfortunately, he rummages through the elf's belongings instead. Black Robe casts prayer again. Saanau casts Melf’s acid arrow, but it’s ineffective against the god of slimes, who cure light wounds itself.
Saanau casts thunderbolt at the god. It casts its own prayer. Daj mirror images herself and runs up to attack. Black Robe turns his staff into a snake and sends it to attack the EEG. It constricts! Saanau uses improved magic missile on some tentacles and the EEG itself. It then casts cloudkill around itself. Daj steps back and faerie fires the EEG. Black Robe casts cloudburst to speed up the cloudkill’s dissipation. Helga stops dancing. Saanau frees Helga from a tentacle and hits the EEG with another volley of improved magic missiles.
Ghaunadaur casts chain lightning at the group in the protection from evil. It kills Jamal and eventually circles back to him, but Fhaunadaur's magic resistance stops the lightning bolt. Helga casts heal on Jamal off a scroll but screws up the casting. Daj uses the spirit braid to change probability. That makes the spell work, but the healing is channeled out of Helga’s body. It brings Jamal back to the brink but also brings Helga down. Unfortunately, they end up swapping bodies. Black Robe casts death’s door on Helga’s body (Jamal).
The EEG casts vampiric touch on the snake, turning back to a staff. Still confused, Moonlight rage-attacks the EEG. Maedhros casts death’s door on Jamal’s body. The EEG casts vampiric touch on Moonlight, killing him outright. Saanau casts thunderbolt at the EEG, stunning it briefly.
Jamal (in Helga’s body) stands up and goes into shock at now being a female dwarf. He says “green boobies!” over and over again. Black Robe casts cure critical wounds on Moonlight and saves his life although Moonlight loses the blessing of death in the process. Helga’s divine essence has fled. Maedhros casts cure serious wounds on Jamal’s body.
Daj kills the EEG by chopping off its head. Some of its essence now infests her spirit braid. She now feels a little sick and starts to freak out and loses control for a second. A spiritual attack occurs on Jamal’s body, and it collapses.
Helga’s body feels drained of her life force. Jamal’s body is badly scarred on his leg. Moonlight feels drained in his life force. Black Robe uses the staff of curing on Helga’s body to take care of the insanity.
They are able to restore everyone’s eyes with dispel magics.
