The heroes (Idky, Torr, Ichi, Yavin, Arthur, and Athos) step out of the doorway into an ambush. As Torr emerges from the gate, he spies three creatures that appear to be made of frozen flame. Two skeleton-looking creatures with scorpion tails are also thereas well as two gargoyles with hooked tails armed with long pitchforks. Finally, floating in the middle of the room is a giant bug-faced creature with a tail of thorns.
Torr charges the creature in the flying creature in the middle of the chamber via air-walking. Ichi goes for one of the fire creatures on the shore to the left while Arthur casts lightning bolt at one of the fire guys and kills it. For his part, the monk manages to stuns his opponent as well.
Torr shouts that these are devils the heroes are battling. One of the barbed devils attempts to gate in another fiend but fails. The giant ice devil tries to ego whip the paladin, but fails. Torr calls for mental assistance from Yavin, knowing that psionically the cleric is far mightier than himself. The heroes then notice that there are dozens of Dragon Claw bodies in the water, ripped to shreds. They snap to attention and start marching toward them in a zombie-like fashion. Arthur lightning bolts the undead in the water destroying half of them. Idky casts prayer and Yavin mentally attacks the ice devil Torr's fighting, piercing its defenses.
One barbed devil attempts to hold the party but the magic fails on all four targets. The flying ice devil manages to unleash an ego whip on Torr, sending the paladin fleeing back through the gate. A wall of ice appears, however, blocking his way, with the bone devil that created it gleefully stating, "no escape for you, paladin! You die first!" This gives Idky the opportunity to cast remove fear at Torr and reduce the worst aspects of the mental attack. The cleric also catches Athos and Arthur, giving them some protection from fear effects. Yavin continues to keep the big devil busy psionically, piercing another defense.
Another bone devil attempts to cast ice storm, but Torr’s sword’s magic resistance saves the party from the effect. The one Ichi is attacking casts wall of fire, sweeping almost the entire portion of the room above water. The flames catches Ichi, but stops 10 feet from Torr’s drawn holy sword, Wyrmsbane's magic resistance effectively shielding the rest of the party. Ichi leaps into the water and starts drowning. Torr is still cowering and won’t attack the big devil as another devil tosses a fireball but it fails again against Wyrmsbane's magic resistance.
The ice devil now attacks the entire party with an id insinuation and Torr, Athos, Idky get affected. Athos starts talking to his mommy and starts scraping the ice wall as Torr starts talking about picking daisies and while Idky starts attacking Torr!
Undead start swarming the drowning Ichi. Arthur lightning bolts and kills another devil. The last fiery devil runs to attack Torr but can’t reach him, so he rends Athos instead. Arthur levitates Ichi to save him from drowning. Torr shakes off his fear but not the confusion, and attacks Idky back. Athos shakes his confusion and attacks the devil on him.
The ice devil decides to physically attack Yavin as the cleric has psionically breached all of the fiend's defences. One of the bone devils also attacks Yavin. The other goes for Torr but harpoons himself. Athos gets caught by a hold person spell.
Torr snaps out of it and attacks his bone devil, stunning him. He then goes after the other bone devil, leaving the big one for Yavin’s psionics. Ichi gets his broom out to get back to shore. Arthur kills one bone devil Torr stunned with magic missiles. Idky wanders off and tries to take a piss in the water.
Yavin gets knocked into the water and gets attacked by zombies. Torr gets horribly ego whipped and cowers again. Idky casts remove fear on the paladin, so he can start acting again. Athos falls into the water and starts drowning. Arthur casts levitate on Athos to lift him out.
Ichi flies over to the powerful ice devil and kills it by himself. Torr runs to help Zayüß with his devil. Zayüß starts river dancing the undead. Yavin mind thrusts the barbed devil, hitting him. He then flies out of the water. Ichi flies around and kills the remaining bone and barbed devils. The final devil teleports away.
The party heals up and waits around to see if Torr will snap out of it. Athos checks out the zombie bodies. He finds a ton of daggers and:

He shares the daggers but not the coins.
After four hours, Torr snaps out of it. Arthur fuses the shard and mirror together. It is now glowing from its reflected surface. They shine the light at the last gate, and it now opens for them. They pass into a large cavern under a bright dome. Before them appears a stagnant lake. A huge ruined city is at the far end of the lake. This is the city of Ichi’s and Torr’s dream. The pagoda is still standing. They head toward it. They see dozens of Dragon Claws standing around at attention. The warriors, however, ignore the party. They appear nearly dead; their eyes are dead yellow while their expressions are like those of wooden statues. Ichi notices that their souls are weak and not anchored in their body.
They continue on toward the pagoda, past more and more Dragon Claws. Closer, they see another short, fat person waiting for them on the platform. It has the head of a dragon, four arms, and dressed in a tasteless robe. As they approach, he speaks to them, each in their own language. “You are the chosen.” He offers to escort them into the presence of the Dragon Claw. They go with him.
They see a mighty giant with the head of a dragon made of stone. They are introduced to him. As far as Ichi can tell, it has no soul. But it’s a trap. Their guide orders the Dragon Claws to attack!
Idky starts casting prayer and Arthur casts web, catching most on one side. Ichi attacks the short, fat creature, dealing quite a bit of damange. Torr turns and finds out that the Dragon Claws are not undead. Yavin mind thrusts and misses.
The Dragon Claws attack, but only one attacks each party member. Their guide runs from Ichi, running behind Dragon Claws. This doesn't help as the monk knock his foe out of the way and Torr does the same. Just as the dragon-headed guide looks poorly, however, he heals himself completely. That's when Yavin critically mind thrusts the dragon-demon, erasing the last decade of his memory!
As Torr kills one dragon claw, Ichi notices that the soul flies into the stone statue of THE Dragon Claw. Ichi shares what he has seen. As Ichi continues to attack, the four-armed dragon-demon guide protests and demands to know why the party brought him there. Those who can start disarming their opponents. They don’t want to feed the statue. Zayüß starts in on their guide as well. Yavin mind thrusts the guy again, hitting him.
Torr kills the demon, who begins bubbling. Every Dragon Claw collapses and their weapons shatter. Suddenly, the statue cracks and breaks apart, and the souls of every dragon claw ever slain radiate out, healing the heroes of all damage. They also feel the fallen souls' sorrow for their past misdeeds.
They now hear their old master’s voice: “You have done well.” He offers to let them retain their powers to spread his teachings. Only Ichi accepts.
Heaven opens, and they see the Celestial Bureaucracy and the Jade Emperor. They receive boons:
Arthur: receives a gift from K’uei Hsing. The fat, ugly god of learning and test taking whacks the mage on the head, literally knocking the knowledge of the Pan T'angian language into his mind. He also receives the Tome of History (written from the Pan T’angian perspective). Finally, K'uei Hsing also gives Arthur a scroll, allowing him to learn the spell know history.
Ichi: As he accepts Hu-Hsen’s offer, the god of the dead, Wen-Yang-Yeh, offers him the ability to call forth the spirits of the dead masters through a shukenja in order to teach him any martial art, as long as these gods are worshiped on the world he is on. Hu-Hsen allows him to keep the talisman. The gods suggest that Ichi return home to do his fight and point him to a gate at the edge of the steppes to take him home.
Torr: The gods recognize Bahamut’s position as lord of all dragons, including Asian dragons. They also bless his sword so he can summon it to him, much like a dancing jade sword. He and Zayüß will also return home with Ichi in order to spread the knowledge of Bahamut's cult and its greater position and prestige.
Yavin: Is granted average intelligence. His psionics also increase slightly as a result.
Idky: receives a pamphlet about spelljamming. He is instructed to give it to Yavin when he’s done. He also receives a jade charm that will allow him to speak in tongues. Finally, the cleric of the Far Traveler is also granted knowledge of all portals on this world and any other where these gods are worshiped.
Athos: the gods demand that he learns martial arts: naginata for thieves, naginata, basic Mad Monkey, full Mad Monkey
They are also granted protection from the witch Hecuba as long as they are on this world. This protection will be enforced by their previously-defeated adversary, Chih-Chiang Fyu-Ya, the Punisher of the Gods!
The gods also explain the back story and why they allowed the Dragon Claws to proliferate unchallenged. Dragon Claw bribed members of the Bureaucracy to advise the Emperor to grant Dragon Claw the ability to set up his own martial arts school and challenge the arrogance of humanity. The demon's goal, however, was not to curb humanity's pride, but to gain enough power to rule over Terrax. The heroes intervention, however, foiled the plan just before it achieved fruition!
The heroes are given a chance to rest before using one of the gates there in the city of Panchengjuduohah.
