In Greyhawk, a group of unlikely heroes gathered to deal with a thread. The assembly consisted of Styr (mystic of the Great Ape of the North, Blizzard), Clod (dwarven fighter), Draegar (elven fighter/thief), Namuhni (elven fighter/cleric of Corellon), and Bobby (hobbit archer and tracker). Venturus Drake of the Merchants guild along with Gramis of the Mages' Guild have hired the party to figure out what monster(s) is/are causing trouble in the forested areas south of Greyhawk in the wine country. The creatures doing it are very mobile, leaving very faint tracks. There have been a lot of reports of strange creatures coming from other towns.
They take the road to Two-Ford and then fan out into the forested areas from there. Bobby the hobbit picks up two sets of cat-like prints, quadruped.
As they are tracking through the forest, they come upon four bugbear. Draeger kills one with arrow fire while the others descend on the party. They get down to the last bugbear, and it is able to sound an alarm before getting taken down.
Bobby tracks them and finds that they had been tracking them for a while. Bobby tries to track back to their lair. Along the way, Draeger and Clod see something making its way toward them and shout a warning. Six bugbear appear from the woods. This fight doesn’t go quite as well. Then three more show up, and things are looking really bleak. That’s when a stocky tiger leaps into the melee, taking out a wounded bugbear. Then a black panther launches at another bugbear, killing it. Finally a dark elf wielding twin scimitars joins, killing a third bugbear. The panther speaks with a Great Kingdom accent and coordinates the attacks of the other two, tiger and drow.
They manage to survive with the additional help, but all of the original party are unconscious except Namuhni. After some uneasy conversation, mostly with the black jaguar, Nikaris, and the ministerings of the dark elf, the cleric brings up the rest of the party. As he awakens to a drow looming over him, Draegher's right hook knocks out the dark elf but the elf recognizes the tiger as Gilgamesh. The party finds out that there are wights in the area. They want to get out of the area, so they wait till the dark elf comes conscious.
They follow behind Zyl (the drow) as he leads the way to his camp. They also tell them about draconians in the Mist Marsh.

They decide to head back to Two-Ford, with Zyl, Gilgamesh, and Nik along with them.

On the third day of the journey, they encounter a pit. Clod and Namuhni fall in. They start hearing some animal sounds all around them. The noise starts burrowing into their minds, causing confusion in Clod, Draeger, Gilgamesh, and Bobby.
Clod starts attacking Namuhni. Draeger starts trying to climb the air. Bobby starts gnawing on his toes. Gilgamesh starts pouncing on butterflies.
A gnome attacks Bobby with a touch electrical attack. Another one attacks Gilgamesh as he wanders away. Zyl faerie fires them. Draeger wanders off looking for the source of the noise. He finds a little hobbit girl in a tree. She fades invisible. Styr cast detect evil and finds that they are. Clod stops attacking and starts counting stones. Draeger starts reciting poetry. Namuhni casts bless.
Nik manages to kill one of them. Gilgamesh shakes off the confusion and attacks one of the creatures. Styr faerie fires the invisible one. It jumps out of the tree and attacks him. Zyl kills another one as it attempts to flee. Clod starts hacking at the sides of the pit, causing a partial collapse. Namuhni tries to stop him. The last one is now near death and bolts off.
The confusion wears off, and the party regroups. The pull Clod and Namuhni out of the pit.
They arrive in Two-ford late that afternoon. They find out that most of the disappearances in that area happened among the vineyards about a half-day journey away. They head out to the vineyards and talk to the workers and get all sorts of wild theories and stories about who/what has been abducting them.
Because they can’t think of a way to draw out the culprits, they decide to head to the wight lair with Zyl. They travel a day and a half and are surprised (except for Nik) by something. Nik pounces on whatever it is (invisible). It lightning bolts Nick. They kill it. This might be the creature they’re looking for. They attempt to track it but lose the trail after 20 minutes. They head back to slice it open and study it. They chop off the end with its orifice to carry with them.
They travel 3 more days and reach the wight lair. Now that they know where it is, they head back to Greyhawk with the information. Nik goes with them and leads them through the Druid's Gate and into Thieves' Quarter to the grove of Diancecht and the cleric, Ourobos.
Afterward, they report to the Mages' Guild. The information is deemed worth 100 gp or 200 gp of guild credit for each of them (they can each choose which reward).
