The heroes (Idky, Torr with Zayüß, Yavin, Ichi, and Athos) are inside the underground tomb of Po Nih. Before them is the giant statue of a anthropomorphic cat behind which is a sarcophagus. To either side a 15' long clay boats filled with grave goods and at the back of the chamber is an open doorway with the sound of running water (and feeling of moisture) beyond.
As Ichi walks past the statue, it animates and attacks him. A magical effect goes off, slowing Ichi down. But between Torr and Ichi, they crush the golem in roughly ten seconds. Torr tries to dispel the slow effect with his holy sword, but fails.
Athos checks it for traps on the coffin behind the statue and finds a magical one. Torr dispels it and using one of Idky's lighten loads, Ichi and Torr manage to muscle the heavy lid open it. Inside is a well-preserved body holding a book in good condition. The thief takes the book and the warriors reclose the coffin.
Ichi opens the book. Inside it is autographed in Koiné. Athos can read: “Thanks for the help against the drow in the Shaddath Gap.”
At this point, Idky hears Yavin shouting outside, and runs out to him with Torr and Zayüß. They find a group of Imperial troops demanding the party's surrender. Suddenly, dragon breath comes out of nowhere at the group! The flames stun Yavin, who loses a LOT of items to the fire, including more than a half dozen scrolls, his purse of holding and everything within it, both his holy symbols, and his Mad Monkey Fu talisman...!
Then two invisible dragon claws appear from invisibility to attack. Torr and Zayüß intercept the pair but the warhorse is outclassed. The samurai then charge in, some of them activating their ki power. Magic missiles from nowhere go for Torr but can’t penetrate his resistance.
Torr finishes off the dragon claws, but his mount is stunned and nearly dead. Idky tosses three darkness stones into the group of foes, so only five are able to run up to attack. Ichi and Athos make it up there, and Zayüß is able to retreat to lick his wounds.
The troops start making their way out of the darkness, but the heroes have formed a line and start falling back to plug them up at the entrance of the tomb. Meantime, the mage keeps casting spells at Torr. Magic resistance protects him mostly, but she manages to get him with a pain spell. The paladin suddenly can barely move or function. Athos pulls him back, while Ichi moves in to plug the hole.
That’s when the mage hastes all of the troops. Idky pulls out the darkness stone around his neck as Athos helps Torr sheathes Wyrmsbane. Unfortunately, the darkness doesn’t last long, as the mage casts a light spell. As Ichi is really bad off, he heads back to Torr for a lay on hands. Athos runs up to fill the hole. Yavin mind thrusts a samurai, taking him out of the battle for a while.
All of a sudden, a hurricane wind blows down the passageway but doesn’t knock down the front liners or Yavin. It does knock down Torr. Idky and Athos get taken out by a samurais. Yavin then gets attacked. Ichi rejoins the battle and tries to reform the front line but another volley of magic missiles take the monk down. Things are looking quite bleak for the heroes...!
This leaves the greatly weakened Torr, Yavin, and Zayüß. Torr draws his dagger as Yavin jumps back and Zayüß joins the melee, despite his severe wounds. The mage gets closer and disarms Torr with a spell, ripping the dagger from his hand. Yavin takes out one man, while Torr drinks his potion of invulnerability. The mage rips away Torr’s shield with the same spell. Zayüß takes out another man while the mage unsuccessfully tries to take Yavin’s flaming sword.
Finally, the pain spell wears off of Torr, and he draws his holy sword again. This time, he warns that he’s going to kill the Imperial Troops if they do not fall back. The mage attempts to rip away Wyrmsbane unsuccessfully. Torr mows through the samurai now with Zayüß and Yavin backing him up. Torr then heads for the still-invisible mage but is blocked by one of the soldiers, whom he kills with an almost negligent swing of his holy sword. Zayüß, however, charges through and the clydesdale catches up to the mage, bringing her close to death with just two blows from his powerful (and badly wounded) hooves. Only Zayüß’ magic resistance (shared from Torr) saves him from a lethal barrage of magic missiles. The warhorse responds in kind, smashing the invisible wizardess. Torr, meanwhile, demands the last solider to "yield or die; it's your choice, but clearly, you're no match for us."
Yavin and Torr tend to the wounded and downed party members. Torr uses an aid to restore Idky to consciousness, and the cleric of Fharlanghn joins in the work healing the party. Without his holy symbol and low on mental energy, Yavin does manage to save the lives of everyone else, even Athos. Torr then starts triaging and saving all their opponents, tending to the ones who are still alive. The heroes strip them and tie them all up, breaking their weapons. They also roll the granite stone back in place and Idky stone shapes most of it shut to keep people from coming in. The heroes discover that the mage was also dragon claw, but with their swords broken, all three of the dragon claws are now freed.
With all wounded tended, Idky uses a nap spell on Athos, Torr, and Zayüß while the rest of the party search the bodies, discovering:
19 gp
8 sp
34 gp
36 sp
Bracers, ornate ivory and jade
Two hours pass and Ichi and Torr notice that people are trying to get in. They slay a dragon claw who made it in but there are seven more outside waiting...! The heroes set up a string of darkness stones down the passageway in case the dragon claws get in.
Meantime, the concussed Athos starts reading the book found in the sarcophagus. The magical formulae he reads are burned into his mind and Athos loses the ability to progress in level! The magical backlash puts him into a magically induced coma and Yavin uses a mind read spell to verify that the thief is now insane!
Idky and Yavin feel they are being scried, so Torr dispels the effect. Some of the men come conscious, and one of the bushi is very cooperative and tells them their story. The mage sensed that the party was coming this way and got some men together to go after them.
The mage eventually comes conscious and is very irate. Yavin gets into her head using two more mind read spells and finds out that her name is Shi Lin and she became a dragon claw willingly in an effort to become more powerful. That said, she’s insane, due to the effect that the dragon claw has on mages...
The heroes continue resting around 8pm...
