The heroes (Mang, Kennibrae, Wooden Thighs, Gamoth with Ashtabular and Leia, Corvin Oakmead, and Alec) gather their wits and resources before searching the vampire's remains and the cavern. A careful examination reveals several rings, one magical, and some gems. It also uncovers a hidden entrance into some sort of lair...!
Alex casts a find traps and Gamoth already has a detect magic active. The entrance has a magical and a mechanical trap. The Archdruid attempts a dispel magic, but it fails, so he stone shapes the lid of the entry out of the way, revealing a huge shaft 30' deep going down...and a symbol of insanity that he manages to resist...!
Wooden Thighs uses his ability to spider climb to wall-walk down to the bottom of the shaft, where there is another level passage moving off into the rock. Alec uses a rope to rappel down, using the stone-shaped rock as an anchor. His spell reveals another mechanical trap below which Gamoth bypasses using another stone shape. Woody then comes back and fashions a harness for Ashtabular and the group all descends into the rough-hewn passageway. The tunnel forks ahead, to the left and right.
The left passage has a magical trap, while the right has another fork. Taking the right passage and right fork, the party comes to a door with a mechanical trap in front of it. Woody resumes human form and attempts to disarm the trap, but winds up falling in on accident. The panther werelord falls 30' onto poisoned spikes. And, to add to the fun, four shadows move to attack him!
Kennibrae's attempt to turn fails at first, but the shadows finally fall back after draining much life from the hapless Flan. Ash sips Alec's potion of climbing and comes down to get her friend while Gamoth drops a wall of fire into the pit to fry the undead.
The heroes continue through the door and see a skeleton in the room beyond. The skeleton tosses a glass sphere at the group, releasing a virulent toxin. Mang charges forward, falling into another spiked pit 30' deep with shadows. Kennibrae vaporizes the skeleton and Gamoth uses a precipitation to clean the air. Somehow, Mang fairs a little better than Woody, but is still seriously hurt from the fall. The throne in this next room is magically trapped, so the party moves on...

Father down the hallway is a second magical trap, but the Archdruid's spell doesn't remove this threat (actually there were FIVE sepia snakes and Gamoth brought it down to three...!). Expecting explosive runes, Mang wanders down the hallway and is FROZEN IN TIME by all three sigils! That's when the four bog mummies and six shadows swarm in...
The monsters are tough and infest Alec and Kennibrae with a rotting disease. In the end, however, the heroes manage to triumph, but must now continue without Mang as Gamoth's spell has already failed... Unfortunately, other than a dead-end, there's nothing else on this fork.
The heroes back trap to deal with the trapped door. Woody sets it off and is caught in the spring-loaded floor catapulted to the ceiling and stalactites. Four shadows move in to kill the pinned werelord while four shadows come out from beneath the mechanism to slaughter the heroes too. The party is victorious, but the door is another dead-end.
Where is the vampires lair?
Hours of searching reveals nothing and Gamoth uses his magical ring to look through the walls. He finally finds an entry into a dungeon and the heroes continue into a massive chamber ornately finished in marble. Woody and Kennibrae track through the dust and take the passage to the left. All the doors are wizard locked, but the drow princess is far stronger than magic and wood, except for one door.
The group finds a naked half-orc but Kennibrae's know alignment reveals him to be CG. Thus Isaac joins the party and the group finds the archer's equipment in the next room.
The group searches on and comes to a room with a stone gargoyle. Without hesitating, Alec nails the statue with his rod of smiting, revealing the stone golem's true nature. It doesn't even have a chance to counter attack...
As the stone golem's remains fall off its pedestal, the door beyond pops open. The heroes soon battle four ju ju zombies, but they're not much of a match for the heroes. Confounded, however, the party again doesn't know which way to go as they've exhausted all the doors.
Kennibrae searches for tracks and using her drowic skills finds a stonework secret door with a long passage coming off of it. Alec takes point and notes a hidden mechanical trap some hundred or more feet beyond. Woody determines there's a pressure plate and Gamoth stone shapes it in place, so the heroes come to another dead end. Another search finds another secret door and the heroes enter another massive chamber with spider-like motives...and a flesh golem with twelve ghasts and six shadows.
This battle gets tight, with Woody nearly falling and Isaac and Kennibrae both quite wounded. Ash slaughters most of what gets in front of her and Alec puts up quite a good fight until he's paralyzed by the ghasts. In the end, the heroes are victorious, if a little worn down.
They collect their wits and Gamoth announces that something is trying to charm him...! He spies a pair of red, dwarf-height eyes peering through a hidden peep-hole in one of the four doors out this throne room. Kennibrae shatters this wizard locked door and the party quickly slaughters a gray-dwarf vampire stone mason. Beyond is another room with the vampire's coffin and another dozen ghasts. These monsters cause some pretty serious damage and nearly kill Alec and Isaac both.
The next room is a richly appointed chamber guarded by a wraith and four ju ju zombies. When Kennibrae shatters the wizard locked door, a floating glyph in the room blasts the teenage drow with a bolt of negative energy that nearly kills her. Woody and Corvin charge in with Ash moving to have a clear shot and all three get a lightning bolt from the wraith! Then the ju ju zombies close ranks and block access to the spell-caster.
The dwarf and werelord are in pretty dire shape. Woody bails on Corvin, who now faces all four zombies. Isaac moves to support the dwarf, taking one foe off him. Leia backs up the half-orc while Alec pulls Kennibrae to safety and Gamoth uses a cure serious wounds to heal her. The wraith attempts to unleash a second lighting bolt into his own minions, catching Corvin and Isaac as well, but Ash had held her spell until the undead began casting and the tiger's magic missiles interrupted his dweomer!
Even Gamoth was surprised by that one, "since when could you cast that spell again?!?"
The wraith managed a volley of magic missiles back, but the wounds to Ash were minor. Gamoth, tired of the heroes getting rocked, unleashed another sunray and vaporized the lot of undead.
