The heroes (Idky, Torr, Yavin, Ichi, and Quendi) regrouped and decided to continue searching Pe Nok. Quendi casts fly on Idky, and then she casts fly on herself. She flies off invisibly to the monastery to spy it out. It’s in absolute ruins! She sees a couple dozen men loafing and wandering the grounds. She pokes around the outbuildings to see what she can inside. There are some dead bodies thrown unceremoniously in the bushes. Many of the men were obviously turned. After a few minutes, she heads back.
In the meantime, since the rest of the group look very conspicuous, six Dragon Claws approach from either direction in a squeezing action. Torr and Ichi each take one group. Idky takes out his darkness stone and Yavin casts heat metal at Ichi’s opponents, as two approach them. The heroes’ strategy is to disarm their opponents rather than damage them. They find it’s hard to break the swords, so they end up having to kill some of the men. Ichi gets beat up pretty badly and decides to pull out his darkness stone too.
Quendi catches two of the ones Torr and Yavin are fighting with a mass sleep. An earlier lightning bolt kills one and drops another. Then she starts gathering up dropped swords to try to destroy them. After bringing all to unconsciousness (except for two who were killed), they break the swords via lightning bolt and weapon break. Ichi notices, based on their clothing and the cuts on their hands, that many were turned but some were willing converts.

The heroes get back to the ship invisibly to nap and then invisibly head to the monastery. Ichi and Torr attack the fat leader-looking guy from invisibility, though the paladin offers a noble-and-fair challenge first. They end up getting swarmed by minions, and the going gets tough, especially for Ichi, as he is public enemy #1. Yavin casts heat metal spells from the safety of a high perch.
Ichi ends up going down, even though he’s taken a number of the minions down. Yavin flies down to protect the downed monk, and Idky tries to fight his way over. Torr, through Zayüß, lays hands on the downed Ichi to bring him back up. He invokes his speed ability and really starts to mow through minions.
With many of his allies down, Torr finally brings down the leader. Ichi noticed that the leader seemed to be possessed and only oozed blood. There are now two left. Yavin and Ichi disarm them and finish them off. They break all the swords that weren’t broken and are able to save three men.
Treasure:
Ring with a turning point (from leader) “Underdark Bart”
After some time, some townsfolk come and ask if they’ve destroyed all the Dragon Claws. The towns take over the garrison. They warn them that they have gotten no protection from the local lords when the Dragon Claws attack.
That night, Torr and Ichi have a dream: standing beneath a great crystal dome of a great promenade. Behind is the open sea. Ahead is an ornate pagoda with a throne. A noble giant with a dragon’s head. “You have proved yourselves worthy.” He offers to have them join him if they will accept a pair of golden hooked swords, like the ones wielded by the Dragon Claws. They refuse, and he gets angry. “No one will stand before the Dragon Claw!” They wake up in a sweat.
There is a note next to Idky’s pillow. It says: “The priest you seek has fled to the town of Lenachi. Beware the region has fallen to the enemy, but he awaits your arrival.” Apparently, it is from their friend Tal Se Loh, the Black Leopard they met earlier.
Eeps: First fight (including Quendi) 12,000 each, double if you’re good (NOT Quendi)
Second fight (no Quendi) 21,500 each
