Orn’s Background (from start of character)
Orn is a 47 year old human man who stands 5’8” and 140lbs. His skin shows signs of lots of exposure to the sun and of the pox, looking a lot like old leather. His hair, what is left of it is white and his beard kept fairly short. His eyes are brown, and seem to be looking deep into your soul while noticing everything around. His arms and hands have a large number of white scar lines.
Orn stands very upright and mostly still, though once in motion he seems quite purposeful, though not overly graceful. He will typically be dressed in plain garments with little to no color. On the road this will often be a set of serviceable leather amour (until he decides he needs/can afford better). He carries a trio of hand axes at his belt, wears solid serviceable leather boots, a hood to keep the sun off and does not display any jewelry or ornamentation with the exception of a silver holy symbol. Off the road he will typically be dressed in a simple comfortable robe belted and carrying a single axe. For religious ceremonies he will typically be dressed in ‘plain’ versions of ceremonial garments.
Confirmed now as a cleric to Kor the Venerable, Orn started life fairly low class(7). Born the third child of four to Wietharn and Petal of Jask near the city of Muluk he had a typical childhood. When he came of age he joined his father at the quarry carving stone and marble. He eventually married and had children and grand children. See table.

Orn is as stoic and immovable as the stone he used to work with. His demeanor is gruff and yet wise. He notices much of what goes on around him, but does not feel the need to comment on all of it. When asked for advice he will carefully ponder what he says before speaking. He has a strong grounding in reality and understands that wisdom is as much about listening as anything else. He is opinionated, subtle in the way he is likely to do things and looks at all the options.
For entertainment Orn enjoys a number of things. He enjoys talking/listening to people around a fire and with a beer or two. He whittles small wood toys that he gives to the children that cross his path. (He will often have two or three ready in a pouch). He enjoys good stonework and will sometime even stop to admire the carving or chiseling work.
Orn is a cleric for several reasons. He seeks wisdom and thought to find it in the teachings of his faith, while also hoping that his faith will convince him that he in not crazy because he sometimes hears things from the stone around him. Other reasons include the fact that he likes helping people and that he deeply believes in his god.
Since the stones began speaking to him at the blessing of his eldest son he has had concerns about being crazy, or demon infested. But after a long confidential talk with his local priest he is/was willing to accept it.
His weapons and skills come mainly from his background. He was a stone mason for many years, hence the stone masonry skills. The axe(s) come from chopping wood and building scaffolding for various projects as well as being the weapon Kor carries. His language skills comes as a native speaker.
Favorite things; good stone work, smiling children, a fine ale, soft harp music, mules, fresh baked bread, a good discussion, listening to stories with morals.
Least favorite things; hunger, pox, wild beasts attacking humans, drunkards
Orn is currently in a fairly quite part of his life. Most of his immediate family is either dead or busy with their own lives. He has just recently been though initiate training at his temple and then sent out to the life of a wandering priest going from small village to small village. That said he does have minor friendships with the temple librarian Nal, the temple cook, Betta, and a wandering minstrel named Bright Blue with whom he journeyed for a while.
Orn’s foes are mostly from the natural world. He takes exception to wild animals who are attacking people, which come from problems he had as a boy in his village with wild dogs. The death of his sister and one of his children to bandits makes bandits something he is likely to deal with harshly.
Most of Orn’s previous adventures were vary typical, day to day life in a village, problems in the village, work in the quarry, occasionally taking product into town for delivery/sale, journeying to the temple, training in the temple, local travel from village to village as an iterant priest. It has shaped him, it has made him patient with things, given him the basic skills of traveling and shown him the differences and similarities of the world.
· Horse for a long journey. Orn would likely choose a mule as his ‘steed’ and then walk beside it. He considers mules to be pretty wise and in the moment.
· Death and Dying. Orn is pretty matter of fact about death. He sees it as part of the journey of life. He believes that each person should be able to have the opportunity for achieving wisdom, but does not believe he can know when that journey is complete. The perfect death for Orn would be dieing while helping others achieve wisdom/learning. A meaningless death would be being shot in the back walking down a path or by accident.
· Loved or Feared. Loved. Orn has no desired to be feared. For him love comes as part of the wisdom of a full life.
· Why Adventurer? To learn and gather wisdom. To help others in accomplishing the same.
· Raided Wayside Inn. The answer does not change for Orn. If he has the means to track down the guilty bandits he would.
· Reincarnation. No. If dead he would want to move on with the wisdom he has gained.
· As a child? Orn was a well cared for child. A bit of a rascal and a scamp he also took to responsibility well. Treated as well as the other children of the village he learned many of the harsh lessons of village life early.
· Childhood friends. Many. In particular one Sez Son of Splitstone. Wild dogs killed Sez when Orn was about 10. Most of the others are now dead or no longer in contact (after all it has been more than 30 years).
· What would provoke murder. Hmm... Repeated deliberate acts of violence just for the sake of violence. This would especially be true if the victims where children.
· Strongest personality traits. Stubborn-ness. Others see this, and Orn agrees.
· Emotion. Not difficult for Orn to show emotions. Likely to hide stupidity.
· Relationship with Kor. Orn is devout and feels he has a personal relationship with Kor. Orn does feel more of an impersonal tie to the temple part of the religion. They did not really know what to do with an old man as an acolyte who was not really interested in temple politics.
· Taking a life. Sadness at that person’s loss of future and the wisdom that might be learned.
· Characteristic character is most proud of. His wisdom and learning the lessons of life, which he holds as a person matter.
· If Orn could live anywhere, where and why? Tough question, as Orn has not seen much of the world, though more than most. He would probably choose a small village with a good well, some natural defenses, good fields, a strong vein of flecked marble and benevolent rulership.
· Can have one thing. A way to make an unbreakable, toy that can always be found. It would be put to the use of entertaining children.
· Greatest Ambition. None really. Orn mainly follows where events lead.
· What Animal symbolizes your Character. The turtle/tortise with it’s slow plodding wisdom.
· How does character view life. Life is a path with many choices, much scenery and lots of other travelers.
· Virgin. Nope. Has grand kids. Partner was wife, the experience was great and fulfilling.
· Secrets. Orn keeps many secrets. The trials of people can only be helped if the story is told, and many stories do not improve in the light of day. So if wisdom is to be gained he must hear the stories to offer advice, but not pass on the story.
· How does character react to clerics. Depends on the cleric/religion. People are sacred and how people are treated by the cleric/religion determines how Kor feels about them.
· How easy is it for you to kill? Depends. Animals – easy. Monsters – easy, humanoids – kinda hard depending on actions, humans – moderately hard depending on actions. For those capable of learning non-lethal force is an option.
· Do you believe in destiny? No
· Do you believe in Law or Justice? Justice and the means.
· Ever been in love? Yes. Wife. Does not expect it to happen again.
