As the heroes (Daj, Bradeen with Dale, Cliffy, River, Helga, Maedhros, and Kennibrae) stumble through the snowy forest away from the hill giant lair, Jyolli, Andonia, and Jamal arrive. The cleric of Erevan Ilserie casts a few curing spells and then the a wounded bugbear and two turned shadows arrive, only to be quickly slaughtered. On the bodies, the heroes find some platinum pieces, an abalone shell ring worth 1000gp, two topazes worth 250gp each, two emeralds worth 500gp each, two black sapphires worth 2500gp each, and three oriental topazes worth 5000gp each as well as an ornately wrought gold bracelet (2000gp), platinum bracelet with diamonds (4000gp), 30-inch string of pearls (6000gp) and 2000 sp.
The group then heads back to the babau cavern. A knock spell from Jyolli opens the huge double doors. The party enters a drow-hewn hallway. Helga finds a shifting door, behind which a hill giant is hiding. He falls quickly, but not before the jotun calls out.
As they healers are bandaging Helga, a nearby double door creaks open. Two hill giants are there, and they also sound an alarm. They hurl boulders, hitting Maedhros and River.
Invisible Cliffy slips into the room and sees a massive chamber beyond. It appears to be a throne room. The murals depict a female elf crushing an army of driders.
Daj attacks, and River shoots at the monsters, Cliffy hits one giant from invisibility and kills it.
Three more hill giants run into the room, also calling over their shoulders. Things aren’t going too well, and then more giants start charging down the other end of the corridor. Jyolli puts a wall of fire in their way, blocking the newcomers from joining the fight.
Jyolli’s confusion spell catches a number of the giants. Some stop attacking and do a number of inane actions. The tide is starting to turn against the giants, as Kennibrae drinks a potion of stone giant strength and the giants start to thin out.
After clearing the giants in the immediate area, they check out the big ‘throne room’. It seems to be a temple to the Elder Elemental God, Ghaunadaur.
As the party looks at the big room, River starts to shoot arrows through the wall of fire at the giants. Two orcs run across the big room toward the doors at the opposite end. Helga casts hold person on them and catches one. The other escapes.
Kennibrae runs after the fleeing orc. Daj joins her, hurling her scimitar at the held orc, but misses. As River steps into the room, he realizes that the EEG can now see him...and that is a BAD thing. The half-elven archer-ranger runs out.
The orc was pounding on another door, calling for his master. As Kennibrae reaches the orc, the door opens. Inside are three hill giants. The two females are arguing with the male. Kennibrae kills the orc with a quick slash. One female grabs scissors and a brush to attack Kennibrae.
Jyolli casts dancing lights to form a humanoid shape, but it turns into a fire elemental with a huge eye, and it glares balefully at Jyolli. Cliffy runs out of the room. Helga moves up on the altar and prepares to pour holy water on it. Kennibrae kills the female giant using her enhanced strength.
A lavender mist oozes from the amber chunk on the altar. A fiery reddish-orange eye hungrily gazes at the chamber. As the holy water hits, it puts a big crack in the amber. A mauve gas escapes from the cracks. The eye looks right at Helga. Helga screams and starts tearing off her armor and drops her weapons.
Daj casts slow on the giants, which catches all of them. And gives the heroes a fighting chance with the elves leaving. Kennibrae casts a sphere of darkness five feet off the ground with catches the giants’ heads and effectively blinds them to the battle at their waists.
Jyolli casts mental domination on the big hill giant, but it doesn’t work. That's when Daj gets splatted by the big hill giant and goes down.
Jyolli casts invisibility on Daj and tells Kennibrae to run. Kennibrae slashes at the giant to get its attention but hits herself and takes herself out. Now she is also down. Jyolli turns her invisible as well.
The male rushes out of the darkness. The female gropes around and picks up Kennibrae. Andonia starts shooting arrows at the male, as Maedhros casts lightning bolt at him. They do little damage.
Jyolli casts cure light wounds on Daj. The female drops Kennibrae after it sees the magical attack while the male readies his boulders.
Cliffy sets up to backstab the male. Maedhros casts magic missile him.
The male tosses a boulder at Andonia and misses. The female rushes up to Andonia, who does a salmon leap dodge to try to avoid her.
Jyolli brings up Kennibrae with cure light wounds and an aid. Daj casts lightning bolt at the giants from a scroll. Because of a boon she received years earlier to not harm her friends, even on accident, the half-dryad narrowly misses Cliffy, who was in the line of fire.
Cliffy backstabs and kills the male. The amber chunk on the altar starts pulsing. Andonia and Jamal take on the female.
The party regroups and escapes, scooping up Helga and the held orc. Cliffy goes back in to grab the male’s magic battleaxe for Andonia. They all flee to the outside.
Helga is still crazy, so Jyolli casts hold person on her. Jyolli uses a cantrip to shave the dwarf's body before she can keep plunking each hair out.
The heroes realize that Helga's gear is all still within the cavern. Kennibrae, still possessed of storm giant strength from the potion, offers to go fetch it invisibly. After all, she has natural infravision and wouldn't need light. As she dashes off, Jyolli reminds the drow that she isn't really conscious but rather operating under an aid spell. Daj gives Kennibrae her half potion of healing and the drow princess heads off. A few minutes later she returns with the dwarf's gear...only then realizing she has two potions in her system at the same time...
