The heroes (Helga, Minosti, Mikhail with Пётр, Daj, Maedhros, Bradeen with Dale, Moonlight, Thane, and Xiones) are awakened in the middle of the night by some noise in the hallucinatory forest Moonlight cast, beyond the region of Helga's created campsite. As forest-dwellers, Moonlight, Mikhail, Dajamira, and Bradeen can see in-coming clusters of hill giants and very quickly the heroes find themselves battling for their lives against the jotuns. Only the illusionary magics save the party from death at the giant's hands and it's only just barely that the party survives, thanks in a large part to Daj using up nearly all the charges in her wand of frost! Helga held off several giants at first, but was too wounded still from the previous battle. Xiones went down quickly, though Thane stayed on his feet. A fear from Maedhros drove two giants off, but they foolishly returned after the battle was over. And Minosti managed to go toe-to-toe with more than one ogre.

In the morning, Bradeen is surprised within the camp by a female centaur. Her name is December, and like the half-dryad is unaffected by Moonlight's spell. The newcomer asks to join the party as the rest of the heroes awaken and set about healing themselves up after the previous night's battle and the slaughter the day before.
