In the morning, the heroes (Helga, Minosti, Mikhail with Пётр, Cliffy, River, Daj, Maedhros, Bradeen with Dale, Evalast, and Thain) decide their next move. Due to Helga's quest, the heroes decided to head north to the Howling Hills in order to free the captive spirit of the Whyestil Lake. Moonlight is the host to the Black Water, Dajamira to the Deepstill, Cliffy the Dulsi, and Bradeen the Opicm Rivers.
Helga casts lighten load on the heroes and Mikhail divides them up between between his own and Cliffy's bag of holding. Less than five minutes later the young druid has teleported north four times, within site of where the Dulsi River enters the Whyestil Lake. The group camps in the eves of the Vesve Forest while the young psi meditates and regains his strength.
Four hours later, Mikhail again teleports four times in the span of five minutes and brings the heroes to the point where the Dulsi River emerges from the Howling Hills. There the group again rests, this time within the river itself thanks to the power of the four spirits and four endure cold spells from Mikhail, allowing the boy time to recover his mental strength.
Four hours later as the sun is low in the sky, Helga casts another lighten load while Maedhros uses three telepathy spells to link the minds of Mikhail with Daj and Cliffy, using his own brain as a conduit. Using this knowledge to pinpoint the location of the Lake's lost spirit, Mikhail makes a single teleport to within less than a mile of the spirit's location. The circle of standing stones however now has a massive wooden fortress built around it. The heroes make a plan to get in...
The heroes sneak up and Cliffy tosses a fireball at the front door. Unfortunately, the walls remain intact and giants come out to investigate. A cloud giant, female hill giantess with a cave bear, and eight orcs come one way. Werewolves begin leaping over the walls, soon joined by more hill giants and finally the chief of the hill giants himself, possessing the power of the Lake spirit.
The battle is fierce, with Cliffy nearly dying under a volley of orcish arrows and giant boulders. He uses a wall of fire to create a hedge, but this uses the last charge of his magic wand. River is critically wounded as well but Helga's cure serious wounds saves the archer's life. Maedhros flies over the wall and tosses a lightning bolt only to get pegged with boulders for his effort. Later, the half-elven cleric / mage repeats the tactic, joined by Daj doing the same twice. These spells pretty effectively clear the field of battle. Evalast discovers his new magical armor is quite potent, despite being surrounded by werewolves and ogres. Thain is not quite so luck and quaffs his potion of heroism.
When the chief of the hill giants arrives, things look bleak as his mate and the cloud giant are still doing quite well. In fact, it's only Mikhail's mental attacks which have kept the rear of the party intact, as the boy keeps erasing the jotun's short-term memory. That's when Maedhros casts mental domination on the hill giant chief. The jotun's mind succumbs, but the river spirit does NOT -- it takes the chief's axes and smashes it's own host in the skull with the blade! Working together, the heroes manage to tend to their wounded while the controlled chief and fighters finish the last of their foes...
