Moments after the finishing the Babau, the heros (Helga, Moonlight, Minosti, Mikhail, Cliffy, and Daj) gather to lick their wounds. Moonlight, now with a powerful river spirit in his body, begins to Medicine Herb everyone, with Helga and Mikhail also passing around Cure Lights. Additionally, Cliffy itemizes the bodies of Dion and Kyre for easy transportation, as well as to keep them in stasis so they don't vampirize. At the urging of Moonlight/Spirit duo, the party searches for the next spirit, which is apparently within a few rooms. They quickly come across Kary, the (EXTREMELY) wounded Marilith. Still missing two of her six arms thanks to River's Arrow of Demon Slaying, she screams for help and opens with a psiblast, catching most of the party. Mikhail tries to initiate psionic combat, Moonlight calls in a Prayer, and the rest of the standing group jumps into melee combat; with everyone missing pitifully. She retaliates, landing a few blows on the already injured party and wrapping Helga in her coils. The combat is quickly over, however, as the dwarven warrior lands a successful blow on her tail, killing the demon and releasing the trapped river spirit. It's not over yet, however...
Just as the Marilith dies, the wounded Balrog from the initial attack on the camp wanders into the room. Moonlight takes the initiative, using a Cloudburst to neutralize both the demon's natural immolation and his flaming weapons. The heros jump into combat, and Mikhail finishes the Balrog with two powerful blows from his scimitars. A second river spirit rises from it's corpse.
The heros move back to the room with the standing stones, and Daj and Cliffy both volunteer to be vessels for the spirits. Helga then begins smashing the two soul receptacles that held the captive spirits. Just as she finishes, the heros are once again beset by a recent foe: Maskelene, returned with the High Priest of Iuz and his Babau bodyguard. Moonlight calls up another prayer as the heros rush in: Helga for the Babau, Daj for the High Priest, and Mikhail, Cliffy, and Minosti for Maskelene. Again, combat is short and fierce. The Babau tears into Helga, knocking her unconcious and bringing her within an inch of her life. Maskelene charms Daj, and the River Spirit quickly takes control of her body to prevent havoc. Dropping her scimitars, it blasts the trio of enemies with a Frosty Fingers. The demon and vampire are both a little miffed, but the EHP is rocked by the spell. Cliffy uses a second, to lesser effect. Mikhail and Minosti both begin to land hits, hurting the Vampire Lord. A second Frosty Fingers from Daj gets lucky; managing to get past the magic resistance of the Babau, she manages to kill both it AND the EHP who quickly becomes a rather unappetizing popsicle. Maskelene, out of spells and surrounded, assumes Gaseous Form and attempts to flee. Not to be outdone, Cliffy quickly casts Detect Magic to keep track of the vampire's movements while Mikhail summons a Dust Devil. Helga is brought concious, but is suffering from a severe concussion. The vampire is caught by the Dust Devil and resumes corporeal shape, where he is quickly surrounded by the party. Out of spells, he quickly resorts to his Wand of Frost to harm the surrounding party members. Between a nasty Backstab from Cliffy, more Frosty Fingers from Daj, and the combined effort of Mikhail, Moonlight (using Daj's throwing scimitar), and Minosti, Maskelene of the House of Rocks, Lieutenant of Iuz the Evil and Member of the Lesser Bonehart, is defeated. A second Dust Devil from Mikhail quickly contains the Vampire Lord, and the heros begin to pull themselves together.
Meanwhile...
River and Jyoli, a level above, are fleeing from another Babau, which is quickly catching up to the pair. Jyoli passes River a Potion of Speed, and the pair quickly race away. The Babau, outrun by it's prey, returns to the fourth level, only to run right into our heros again! They quickly rally themselves and defeat the demon.
Sorry guys, I don't remember enough of the outside fight to do an effective narrative.
