The heroes (Helga, Moonlight, Bob, Minosti, Mikhail, and Anwar) gathered their equipment to go after Dion, freshly kidnapped by the vampire-lord. As they prepared, Kyre, a demon-hunter, approached the group and offered to accompany them. Helga cast a lighten load and the group piled into Mikhail and Cliffy's bags of holding to teleport into the orcish lair.
After a bit of a squabble, the group agreed on a spot on the third level. Helga cast a locate object on Dion's communication cube, realizing that the vampire was above them. The group headed up to find the cleric, running into six orcs. The creatures didn't last a full ten second, although one did manage to sound an alarm. On the second level with Dion still above them, the hero ran into a bilwhr / nalfeshnee (the DM has been using the wrong name!) -- the party quickly whittled it down, but the demon teleported away. Further along, the heroes met one of the previously-wounded balrogs and slew it quickly, although not before it unleashed a symbol of stunning and a psionic blast, taking out several party members.
Near the stairs to the first level, the heroes suddenly were attacked by an Evard's black tentacles and then encountered a giant troll and two babau. Moonlight used his time crystal to escape the spell and charge into the midst of the monsters, nearly catching the vampire-lord. The party wound up splitting up, however, thanks to the linger stunning effects. Moonlight's staff of Avanrakash did the best it could but the babau seriously hurt the party, one even fleeing the combat.
The group ran around the first level searching for the vampire lord who was moving. They killed a hill giant and two nalfeshnee (one was the one they'd battled before), and two babau (again, one was the one they'd battled before). The heroes also slaughtered three devil dogs and two trolls.
Finally, the heroes boxed in the vampire on the first level, after a bit of arguing. Unfortunately, the vampire had two trolls and a marilith with it. The demoness summoned another nalfeshnee and the heroes were hit with a slow. The vampire fled and left the demons to cover his exit. The battle was brutal and nearly all the heroes fell, with both trolls dying as well as the type IV demon, although the marilith, Kary, teleported to safety after being badly wounded.
The vampire circled around to the lower caverns by this point and the party followed back down, quickly killing two trolls en route. Then the party encountered twenty orogs on the fourth level. Minosti's web caught half of them and the fighters quickly slaughtered the other half. Most of the heroes were barely on their feet but hurried on -- into four babau!
Things turned quickly for the party, though the babau were clearly already wounded. Helga's good leg was ruined and both she and Kyre were dropped. Then Bob was killed. The remaining party fled and only one babau (largely unwounded) gave chase. Minosti tried to bravely hold it off and Mikhail telekinetically tossed the demon down the stairs so the survivors could escape.
On the surface, Moonlight ran into six orcs and Minosti's sleep took it down to two. The druids killed them and fled into the night...
