So, Anwar and Mal have a little edumakation session regarding mental powers and such... Anwar has a free NW slot. Can he learn anything from Mal which might benefit his abilities or maybe allow a roll for more advanced powers? (It only sometimes hurts to ask.) Also, with Int16, Con17 and Wis15, how many additional MP is Anwar supposed to get each level? I am forgetting the formula.

Malkierian Abatha is a human man who wields a long sword and short sword with specialization and acts like he's an elf. Mikhail is a human druid who is generally gentle, hangs around with wolves and dogs, and tries NOT to use his psionic power (until he freaking levels to SEVENTH and then LOOK OUT WORLD! Mikhail would ask Anwar about the nature of his abilities and how they function. He would CAREFULLY suggest (as someone with cleric-level knowledge of three different religions) that perhaps Anwar is not gifted by the slyphs and ALSO not a sorcerer or witch, but has another class of abilities. From the players' perspective, Mikhail is playing coy -- the truth is, he doesn't a) want to reveal that he's THAT Mihail, and b) doesn't want to accidentally trigger Anwar's mental powers, which would preclude him from continuing to function as a druid. So, until nature-boy gets to 7th, it's all talk and carefully shaped, introductory words at that. Each point OVER 15 of INT, WIS, and CHR. So INT gives +1

Anwar would be polite with Mikhail, but secretly think he was deluded as foreigners often are... Anwar will definitely require proof before allowing a long-held belief dissolve in mere words from others. It's not like Mal is enlightened or anything...

I looked up the PSP thing - each level also gives you 10 base points, so Anwar now has 63 MP (or PSPs).
Also, Anwar is slightly amused by Mikhail's explanation and has taken a somewhat pedantic view of the foreigner's lack of knowledge regarding elementals and the spirit world of the Djinn, who are plainly evident in both industry and the technological marvels of the modern world. Ah, the provincial thinking of these locals. The poor misguided people.
Anwar really misses the advanced sewer systems and cisterns of his modern home city. Roughing it with the barbarians in crude conditions is an experience though. He really misses a good hot cup of mint tea and cous cous though. What demon came up with this foul 'hard tack' crap?

Silly question - would a psy-active character without any telepathic powers be able to sense another psy-active person by proximity? I realize Anwar would have no idea why or what he was feeling, but to psychics spark off each other when rubbing elbows? Should Anwar feel anything as a result of being around Mikhail (who hasn't used any abilities aside from his teleporting into camp with Bob and then Jay)? Please clue me in to whether there is some sort of field a psy can sense from other psys (with or without formal training). Do the create 'static' or feedback when too close to other psys?

NO! I do NOT give the 10 base points per level!!! The PSP formula is: 3d6 + INT-12 + WIS-12 + CHR-12 + LVL * (d4 + INT-15 + WIS-15 + CHR-15) With all the stat adjs not going negative. My website is gone, but this link should still work: www.reocities.com/buddhabear_sj/gaming/psionics.html

A "receptive" psi (empath, mind reader, telepath, etc) can "feel" the use of telepathic power in the general area. That does NOT apply to other powers like telekinesis or precognition. There is a discipline which affords general psionic sensing (if a player rolls Detect Magic, I replace it with Detect Psionics).
So, off the bat, there's no way to tell that either Anwar or Mikhail are psionic (Mikhail has been actively AVOIDING using his telepathic abilities and keep his psychoportive to an absolute minimum).
Oh, yeah, and Anwar can see by looking at Mikhail that he's probably of Zakharan decent -- he's got slightly olive skin, but likely a half-breed. As an enlightened Zakharan, Anwar really would have excellent cause to believe that his culture and society really ARE better. Materially, magically, technologically, spiritually, culturally, all the way around. It's TOTALLY appropriate for "Middle Eastern" PCs to look down a little on the more savage "White" heroes and peoples.

Rolled a D4+1 for each level - Anwar has 45 PSP, not 61.

David, Thanks for the link - I have finished edumakating myself and now have a better grasp of why the book and the game weren't synching up too well. I read through the rule changes section as well as some of the race pages. You rocked! (It's a defunct site, so no present tense available.) [ ] Adam
