The EVIL DM wanted to make the party play out some of their encounters walking to the next rift…On day four, six yeti jump the party (Torr with Zayüß, Idky, Lowdog with Woxin the eagle, Tensay the snow leopard, and Diawané the grizzly, Yavin, and Stephan with Peter)…
Lowdog kills one immediately although, Tensay, his snow leopard is paralyzed with fear from gazing into a yeti’s eyes and the creature claws and hugs the poor animal, draining the heat from it’s body.
Yavin runs to help out the leopard while Torr stuns both of his foes. Stephan magic missiles the leopard’s yeti, nearly killing it. For his part, Lowdog kills the biggest one.
Realizing that they’re out-matched, the yeti attacking the leopard bolts, as does Zayüß’ yeti. Stephan magic missiles Torr’s two yeti, wounding them and annoying the paladin. Torr sneezes and kills both with a single attack…while Zayüß pursues his yeti but fails to bring it down. Yavin attempts to establish telepathic contact with one yet fails.
Eleven days later, four more yeti jump the group.
Stephan is surprised and paralyzed, getting hugged by a yeti, but his left arm is still free (hehehe!). Yavin mind thrusts one of Zayüß’ three yetis, erasing the creature’s short term memory. Lowdog kills Stephans, as Idky sets up behind it. Zayüß kills one of his and Torr does the same. Stephan’s magic missiles kill the rest. Totally combat time: 20 seconds.
On the 20th day, in the secure shelter, something crashes into the structure.
Lowdog wakes up immediately, grabs his weapons and yells out. Stephan casts fly on himself. Yavin casts flameblade.
Meanwhile, the shelter (now made of ice as the heroes are crossing an expanse of glacier) is slowly melting.
Lowdog rushes outside to see a polar worm crashing into the building, while Stephan attempts to rouse Idky and Torr.
Idky casts bless as Lowdog attacks the worm. For his part, Stephan flies out of the shelter and up, just out of striking range.
Yavin mind thrusts the creature, causing it to hesitate.
The heroes have allowed their yeti guide and his two snow leopards to sleep outside the structure; the group now wonders at their fate. The friendly yeti and his companions are missing.
Yavin keeps the monster hesitating with another mind thrust while Torr charges out with no armor on, followed by Zayüß who likewise attacks. Stephan magic missiles the polar worm but it has magic resistance which completely shrugs the spell. It is Idky (gasp!) that lands the killing blow.
Stephan casts another secure shelter a couple hundred yards away and the heroes go back to sleep, not even bothering to look for their guide and his pets.
Eeps: 2900 each.
Six days later, the party hears harpies singing (in vain, as no one can be charmed). The group, however, pretends to be ensorcelled in the hope of luring the harpies in.
Seven harpies fly across the tundra from the rift as Idky, Stephan, Yavin, and Zayüß start lifting off the ground. Stephan magic missiles one incoming one. Torr kills one with a single slash of his holy sword while Zayüß sends one spiraling down to crash in the snow. Stephan magic missiles again, sending her to her death as she falls. Lowdog sends yet another falling to her death although Idky attacks the one that is spiraling down.
Four more harpies arrive. After most end up dying in ten seconds, the four bail.
One gets killed from a distance. Zayüß and Idky air-run after the fleeing ones. Unfortunately, the horse runs out of range of Torr and can’t continue to airwalk. Yavin establishes telepathic communication with one, suggesting they surrender. She doesn’t agree, screeching profanity in Elvish.
Idky goes into a fall to catch up to his and enters melee with her. Yavin homes in on his telepathically as she dives into a forest in the rift below. Idky eventually whittles his down so she can’t fly. She starts to land, cursing at him in Elvish.
Torr manages to find Yavin and helps him out with his harpy, as Idky finally kills his.

Yavin recognizes the forest as the remains of an Elven spelljamming vessel. The group goes down into the rift to camp out so they can explore the forest as they travel the length of the rift.
That night, Lowdog dreams about where the helm of the crashed ship is currently located. The survivors were elves, humans and a few gnomes. A generation later, they later removed the helm from the site. It is now with some al karak-elam queen, some redheaded chick.
A commune with nature from Idky reveals there is some worked metal near the center of the forest, there is a cache of treasure and trolls there too… The party heads out to the treasure and the trolls.
Three trolls surprise the group. Idky gets totally shredded. Yavin mind thrusts one on Idky, causing it to hesitate as it can’t remember what it’s doing. Stephan, Zayüß, and Torr take the trolls off Idky. Stephan backstabs and kills one troll with the flaming mace. Lowdog takes down the other two, and Stephan flames them.
The heroes continue and about a mile later they encounter a troll, which the fighters charge. That’s when ten more trolls arrive and swarm the group. Stephan goes down under the onslaught of two trolls. Yavin gets into trouble, and Torr runs over to help. Lowdog goes to defend Stephan’s fallen form along with Zayüß.
Idky casts flameblade to start finishing off the downed trolls, giving up his spiritual hammer.
Amazingly, Diwané the grizzly bear hugs and kills a troll although Tensay the snow leopard fled the combat, nearly dead.
The situation starts looking better now, and all trolls are killed.
