Highlands
After Minosti, Draegar, Sven, Zak, Sonja, Morbius, Belorius, and Wimngid went after the possible scourge in the northern Highlands, later joined by Calvaden and Elethim after Belorius and Wimngid died, the group returned to Laird Navroc MacCorval's castle of Irongate, holding the pass into the northern reaches of the North Province.
After healing up for a few days, a new party with Minosti, Sven, Draegar, and Zak was joined by Urthur Talgris. The heroes returned to the ruined palace in the Bone March, encountering the leprechaun, Erc, en route. This time the heroes managed to defeat a horde of skeletal guardians as well as a number of fighters and skilled unarmed combatants. Inside, Minosti uncovered a very elaborate set of plans and maps, detailing some sort of orcish invasion as well as a kidnapping in far-off SeaHaven. Although the heroes never managed to search the entire locale, they did defeat everything they met and limped, battered and bruised to Irongate through the night, in the hopes of giving a warning against the attacks.
Navroc greeted the party at Irongate and sent a barbed devil to warn Angels Forge of the impending attack. The Laird did nothing to alert SeaHaven. Given that most of the party had already had enough of sleeping in a castle run by a necromancer-witch, the group headed through the night to Angels Forge where in the predawn hours they found and room and got some sleep. In the morning, however, the word was that orcs had indeed attacked the previous night and four young girls had been taken from the castle in SeaHaven.
Now rested and healed, the heroes turned north again, passing by Irongate and heading to the ruined palace they'd attacked before. En route, a woman on horseback joined them, one Olivia MacCorval, daughter of Navroc. Together the group fought past another host of skeletal guards (curiously like defleshed versions of the people they'd fought earlier...!) and then entered the lower level of the ruin. There, the party found a series of cages with various occupants. Moving on, the group found magical laboratory with a Baklunish gate near one end. Inside were a mage, a monk with a red-haired 8 year old girl, a handful of skeletons, and a wolfen strapped to a table.
The monk said the heroes would not catch him and went through the portal, green mist flowing through the arc. In a moment, wounded as he was already from the fight about, the monk and his young cargo vanished. The mage cast a spell through his staff on the wolfen, which seemed to slowly transform into a terrible monster right before the party's eyes. The mage released the creature from it's bonds as skeletons moved to hedge the heroes in. The party broke through and Draegar rebound the wolfen-beast before it could escape. The mage fled to the far side of the room and tried to enter the portal several times before he finally vanished. Meanwhile, the heroes hacked at him repeatedly. In the end, Zak, Olivia, Minasti, Sven, and Erc slipped through to wherever the gate lead...
Urthur and Draegar stayed behind. The young fighter from Eon mentioned something having had enough of portals already and moved to find help. En route, he noticed that one of the baddies had left his hippogriff behind...
Status:

Oh, yeah, and the heroes did at least 17 hps damage to the monk and 18 hps damage to the mage...
