The heroes (Rasul, Anwar al Muluki, Tauresh with Aziz, Omar, and Svala) returned to the defunct bath-house to complete their third task for the strange old woman living there. As the group entered, they realized someone had already removed the nails in the boards, so they were simply propped into place. As the group entered, an old woman began to watch them and ask what business they had in the old building. The busy-body then followed the heroes into the hammam where she pointed out a thief inside.
The thief identified himself as Haseem and the party just accepted the stranger into their ranks (!) as they continued on to enter the waterworks. The nosy woman scolded the group profusely for dirtying the "my grandchildren's drinking water with [their] dirty boots and bodies!"
The heroes found the ORIGINAL crazy old woman and with a bit of work (and backward speaking) she communicated that her name was Kadiga and that she had a letter for her son, Nasr, for the party to deliver. The group agreed and returned to the hammam, where the busy-body old lady was waiting for them. She berated the group again and insisted they at least use magic to clear the water. Tauresh claimed that he couldn't but the old woman simply chided him on the limits of his three spells per day...! She then suggested that the group at least report the problem to a mosque.
Anwar detoured to the Mosque of the Honored Elders where he and the group met with Beli'a, the high priestess. The priestess recognized the old woman, Niranna, and after Anwar explained the situation (with Niranna's commentary), Beli'a agreed to clean the waters...BUT...the heroes had to do her a service for their actions...AND Niranna had to go in order to help Anwar, since she ws tattling. The heroes explained they already had a task to do, and when they explained what and for whom, the middle-aged high-priestess nodded and explained that is was she who had cursed Kadiga for "talking back out of turn, so now she can only talk backwards." The heroes were given leave to complete their task for the old hag, and then return for a task from Beli'a and the mosque of Kor.
The group journeyed outside of town by the Dragon's Gate. They traveled about an hour into the countryside to where they found an estate for the production of indigo. After a bit of trouble at the gate, Niranna finally proved useful by taking advantage of her high station and verbally lashing the servants into finding the master of the estate. Nasr showed up and proved disinterested in the note or his mother, and sent the heroes on their way.
The group returned to the Mosque of Honored Elders where Beli'a gave them a choice of tasks -- either serve as watch for the Mound of Forgiveness for three days (ghouls had infested the place) OR verify the validity of a treasure map to a sunken ship in sahuaghin-infested waters nearby. The group decided to go for the ship.
In the morning, the party sought out Salana the pahari they had earlier saved. The young mermaid said she knew there were sunken ships, but not the one the group sought. It was also dangerous as it was, indeed, an area where sahaughin and shark hunt. Thinking quickly, Anwar and Niranna sought out the fisherman, Babazedah, and asked if they could borrow his fishing boat. Now rich beyond his dreams thanks to the heroes, the fisherman agreed.
The party set sail with Omar at the helm and Svala as his mate. They arrived near the map's location in the afternoon and Omar swam down with Salana to find the sunken ship. He found SEVERAL hulls between 90 and 120 down. As the mariner checked the names, he spied a small group of sahuaghin approaching. He sped back to the boat while Salana transformed into her fish form and shot ahead to get help.
The sahuaghin swam past Omar and attacked Svala, Rasul, and Haseem after they dove in. Salana had previously kissed each party member, granting them water breathing so the battle was not as one-sided as it could have been. Svala, in fact, proved quite fierce and capable, killing two sea-devils. Rasul and Haseem, however, were quickly hacked down.
Trying to help, Niranna and Anwar joined the water-side fray and the old woman killed a sahuaghin of her own (first kill!) before the sea-devil took her out. Salana tried to help Svala, but the sahuaghin nearly killed the teenage mermaid; she fled at the first opportunity and the party has not seen her since. Omar and Svala, meanwhile, finished off the last sahuaghin and Tauresh set about saving the wounded. The heroes left JUST as sharks began converging on the area, attracted by all the blood in the water...
The heroes rested that night and the whole next day back in Muluk (Anwar stayed with Niranna, meeting the old woman's family, which included her daughter, Kara, a powerful wizardess, her son-in-law, Mandar, a bulky, blond fighter, and her three young grandsons, Tiberius, Joshua, and Arrakis). When Haseem headed home for the evening, he encountered Nasr waiting for him outside his home. The young man asked for the thief to bring him to see his mother, which Haseem did. As the thief turned to head home, he glanced over his shoulder, but the young land-holder had mysteriously disappeared. Beli'a, meanwhile, healed Rasul's crippled hand the following morning, but demanded of the mage a second mission.
On the 2nd of October, Rasul, Anwar, Tauresh with Aziz, and Niranna set sail for Umara with four potential bribes (Farija, Noor, Zora, and Samia) for the prince. Each woman was accompanied by a handmaiden plus the lot had six eunuch guards. Captain Ali and his first mate, the mamluk Tamok, told the heroes they must be alert for any danger to the noblewomen.
Two days out from Muluk, the ship was attacked in the night by corsairs. Unfortunately, most of the crew (as well as Aziz) seemed to be suffering from food-poisoning! A battle ensued and the heroes proved quite handy at taking out sailors, marines, and even leaders of the corsairs -- before tables turned, they killed 13 sailors, 7 marines, all three combat-leaders AND the enemy captain! Tauresh managed to heal the lot and together with Captain Ali, the heroes drove off the rest of the corsairs as well as the last four marines. Both ships limped away (the Nightingale to Umara and the attackers back to the Corsair Domains). In the battle, the heroes' ship lost nearly everybodied sailor and marine as well as all the eunuchs and the ship's mage. The first mate survived only barely and it was the heroes who had to help Captain Ali sail the Nightingale into port. The cook's body was never found...
The heroes spent two days in Umara (we can do shopping next game if you want) before Captain Ali brought them back (and yes, the Captain DID get treasure from the battle -- I only gave you the loot from the foes YOU killed, he got the rest). Meanwhile, the party has the gratitude of all four potential brides, one of which should be the next princess of Umara...
