The heroes (Jason, Gazer, Aspen, Gilean, Zak, Björkmar, and Sam) met up with Djann (Björkmar's old mage buddy) and her companions Swaying Oak and Matthew of Boccob in Hardby. Together they decide to head into the Abbor Alz to find the Star Cairn. The trip to Storm Keep passes without incident as does the trip to Freyl Keep. The first day out from Freyl which searching for the Cairn, the group runs into and kills first one hill giant then two more. That night, Djann takes off. The next two days the group search but don't find the Cairn. They do find some ogres and Zak is killed. Finally, early on the 6th, the party finds the cairn.
The group walks up but says all the wrong things to the guards who sound the alarm. The party begins a fierce battle into the cairn with Gilean leading the way after Aspen is almost killed by three ogres. The party is doing alright but has fought their way into a 30' tall chamber with an exposed spiral staircase...!
