The heroes (Maedhros, Torr, Idky, Squattingbeaver, Lowdog, and Aine with Dresher) awake within their secure shelter near the heart of Marthasville.
After dividing the loot from the previous battles, the party quickly makes its way to the center of town. There Squattingbeaver speaks with spirits and the departed guided the party to an underground vault where four spooks are waiting! The adventurers back up into a previous room, bottling three spooks in the hallway.
Torr starts fighting spooks one at a time, destroying them quickly as the fighters get buffed with spells from the casters. Fortunately, Aine and Beaver are watching their backs, because a creature appears in the room. He looks like an old man with teal skin, wreathed in fire. With him are three beautiful woman and 18 skeletons.
As Maedhros starts to turn the skeletons, the demon strikes him with a gout of demon fire, stunning him outright. Already wounded, the blast brings the half-elf to the brink of death.
One of the women tries to cast a spell, which affects no one. Lowdog responds to the cries for help, leaping over the wall o' skeletons to attack the large demon. The large demon blinks,
exchanging places with a skeleton
Beaver goes to max cure serious wounds on Maedhros. The women attempt to suggest three party members but each fails. The demon commands the skeletons to put up a wall of swords to prevent Lowdog from leaping again. The teal demon then reveals himself as Lord Lazarus and proceeds to pull a spirit out of the air and stuffs it into a skeleton, corrupting it into a vile female amazon-demon.
Torr rushes in to attack the demon but can't reach him, so starts hacking down the women who turn out to be succubi. Meanwhile Maedhros dusts seven skeletons. The cleric's act enrages the demon, and Lazarus unleashes another firebolt, which kills him outright (dead, dead).
Beaver assumes lion form and gets attacked psionically by one of the succubi, which he fends off. Torr takes on a succubus as Beaver leaps to attack the one mentally attacking him. Lowdog finishes of the newly formed demon.
Using the moment of peace, Lazarus creates a blood-soaked goat demon. Lowdog gets swarmed by skeletons.
One of the succubus attempts to suggest Idky and fails. But at that moment, a balrog appears. It would appear that the alarm has been sounded! Aine casts faerie fire and lights up the goat demon.
Torr finishes off his succubus and steps to attack the balrog, wounding it. The unengaged succubus suggests that Beaver change form and kiss her, which he resists. Lazarus creates an anti-paladin and sics him on Torr.
Beaver throws off another suggestion from the succubus and continues to savage her to death. Lowdog attacks the demon lord, but it blinks away in time to avoid his sword strike.
Torr kills the balrog in two hits, but takes damage from its immolation. He's fine but that's when the anti-paladin lays into him.
Lazarus creates a burning phantom. Aine casts forget, but catches no one. Idky casts faerie fire, catching the skeletons
The bloody goat demon continues attacking Beaver, hurting his paw. Just then the anti-paladin drops Torr. The burning blood demon touches Lowdog, bursting his blood into flames and feeding off the blazing essence.
'Beaver leaps at the anti-paladin, keeping it off Torr. Aine and Idky rush up to cure and bring the paladin up. Aine narrowly resists a charm spell from a succubus
Beaver bails back into the protection from evil. Lazarus continues to convert skeletons into demons, and Lowdog continues hacking through them. Aine catches one goat demon with forget. Idky casts cure serious on Torr, who also quaffs a potion of speed. The unengaged bloody goat demon remains outside the protected area, so it grabs a bow and fires arrows at Torr and Idky.
Lazarus firebolts Torr and misses him. Torr hands Aine a potion of acid breath, who quaffs it. Beaver max cure serious wounds on Torr. Torr gets hit with a firebolt, but his spell-eating gem absorbs it. Now he's ready for action!
Aine breathes acid at the anti-paladin and Lord Lazarus, doing some damage, but not overly wounding them. Torr whales on the anti-paladin after the acid attack. Amazingly, it's still standing, but barely. Torr's gem absorbs a suggestion spell from the succubus. The bloody goat demon attempts to attack Torr, but stuns itself. Idky narrowly misses getting hit by a firebolt.
Beaver lets loose the mass destruction, damaging a couple of demons, then goes unconscious. Idky cast darkness on the Lord Lazarus, but it can see in the dark, and blasts him again with a firebolt. Succubus suggests Aine come give her a kiss, which she does, losing two levels...!
Finally having cut down the anti-paladin and other foes, Torr engages Lord Lazarus. Meanwhile, the succubus kisses Aine again, nearly sucking out the last of the witch's life force. Idky steps up and strikes the succubus, hoping she'll let go of Aine. Torr engages Lowdog's opponent so he can go help Aine. The totemic warrior finishes his opponent off and goes to attack the succubus, killing her.
Facing nearly the whole party alone, Lord Lazarus teleports away.
Torr and Lowdog rush in to attack spook and quickly dispatch it. Lowdog crushes the runestone with Maedhros' magical golden mace.
