Cuz the game has been going on for a while, here's a quick reminder of what Charn is like...
The sky is slightly darker and more purple during the day (when it's not rainy or cloudy) with many, many, many small white or slightly gray clouds scattered about, rushing through the sky. For the first three months of so, the sky would be partially cloudy and windy, but not too bad. Now, in the monsoon season, the heroes almost never see the sky and the clouds clearly form at least three different layers that blot out the heavens day and night. On clearer nights when it was very dry, Yavin counted six different moons, each a slightly different color and a couple slightly different (non-round) shapes. There are many stars although none of the patterns are familiar and the milkway is dimmer and less striking than Oerth.
In general, Charn is slightly warmer, with a higher oxygen content and more atmospheric pressure, so it's sort of like being in an atheletic pressure dome. The weather seems to swing wildly from overly dry to overly wet, but it's consistently windy (VERY few calm days and there are almost always at least a few clouds). Yavin mentioned that the gravity was slightly less and once he said something, the rest of you noticed, but it's not a big deal. In general, life is very similar to Oerth.
The technology of Charn is different too. No one seems to carry any weapons but daggers and maybe staves, plus the "fire-arms" that are small and big. There are a few iron roads connecting far-flung cities, with very little in-between. The buildings are mostly wood-and-iron (think Garden District of New Orleans) with a few "Southern Plantation" type structures. In the very old cores of a few cities, in contrast, are squat, stone strucutres, often covered with cobalt-colored tiles which date to the Ancients. Two cities (Luxor and Marthasville) also have massive central buildings, akin to fantasy Arabic minirets with impossibly-long balconies and struts, all made of a slightly translucent marble-like substance, in the center. These few extremely unusual and awe-inspiring (we have sky-scrapers, Dnd characters do NOT) structures date to the First Comers and Luxor's had a gate in the central plaza (Marthasville has two, on either end of town).
