After having destroyed the runestone on the ground, the heroes (Ichi, Maedhros, Idky, Squattingbeaver, Lowdog, Yavin, Robyndella with Meldenya, and Cornelius) gather together and fly up to the skyship. Maedhros and Yavin take one broom while Squattingbeaver and Idky take the other. Cornelius levitates himself and Robyndella drinks half of a similar potion and Maedhros casts fly on Ichi and Lowdog. The group gets to 3000' before encountering three gargoyles swoop down and quickly die...!
The party reaches the edge of the darkness at 4000'. Their light disrupts the darkness so noon-day light shines down and the heroes can see the belly of the skyship 1000' feet above them. The heroes gain several hundred feet before the harpies come. Their song ensnares Maedhros, but the creatures wait for gargoyles to join them before attacking...and most of them dying in multiple fireballls from Robyndella's wand. The heroes zip around at roughly the same altitude for at least two minutes, battling these monsters. A beholder fighting Ichi charms Lowdog, but before the totemic warrior can save the creature, it dies. Squattingbeaver and Idky spend most of the battle healing. That's when the heroes must deal with two particularly potent foes: an angel of death and a vampire!
The angel of death swoops down and heads for Yavin, but Lowdog engages it and very quickly defeats the monster. The spirits of the dead from the Pink Palace try to help the heroes, effectively giving them a prayer while together, but unable to deal with the angel of death.
Meanwhile, the vampire, already burning from the sudden exposure to sunlight, leaps over the edge of the skyship to reach the safety of the shadows underneath it...right into one of Robyndella's fireballs. After vanquishing the angel of death, Lowdog slaughters the vampire and 'Beaver uses his broom to push the vampire into the sunlight where it bursts into flames and truly dies.
The heroes regroup and get within 300' of the belly of ship when they find themselves battling more beholders as well as juju zombie gunners. One unloads into Lowdog, nearly killing the totemic warrior and knocking him out. Only a feather fall from Yavin and some quick broom maneuvering lets the other heroes save him from nearly a mile fall! Meanwhile, Robyndella continues to unleash fireball after fireball on these creatures, completely protected from gunfire by her protection from normal missiles spell.
Maedhors and Yavin join Ichi and Robyndella once Lowdog is stable, thanks to Squattingbeaver and Idky's cure serious wounds and cure light wounds. Gunners in the crows nests nearly kill Maedhros, but the freshly-healed totemic warrior saves the half-elven cleric. Yet another of Robyndella's fireballs take out two of the three gunners (they survive, but gunless and smash to the deck below!) while Ichi goes for the last one. The monk manages to nearly destroy the juju zombie, but is swarmed by the last of the shadows and falls. Yavin, slowed by one of the last lesser beholders, tries to save the monk, but Ichi slams into the deck (he was trying to fly to safety), nearly dead.
Swooping to the rescue is Squattingbeaver, Idky, Lowdog, and Maedhros. The cleric turns the shadows and the heroes finish off the zombie. The last lesser beholder comes after the heroes slowing ALL of them but Cornelius, while Robyndella uses a few more fireballs to destroy nearly every turned ghoul on deck.
The shaman heals Ichi while Lowdog and cleric of Fharlaghn fight the beholder. Once on his feet, the monk joins as well, nearly getting himself killed again. But, in the end, the heroes are victorius and take over the top of this ship!

Now, to get inside the skyship and destroy the last runestone...
