The heroes (Dion, Marc, Mikhail with Samhain, Sky, Daj, Pepper, Semi, Helga, Elric, Jellie, Thera, and Doby) left the Earth Temple and began to search for Clanndennagh's lost soul, following Thera's preternatural senses. The group descended to the 2nd level of the dungeons under the Temple and found a series of storerooms. In one of these, a strange, blood-thirsty, psionic monkey attacked the beastmaster, Marc! Mikhail tried to contact the creature's mind, but it resisted all attempts of telepathic communication. The su-monster caused Marc serious damage before the heroes slaughtered it.
Later, the group found a staircase down to the 3rd level -- the same level that holds Clanndennagh's soul. Unfortunately, three hill giants were searching about for a "snack" as Semi opened the door from stairwell. The paladin lept back and tried to close the door, but one giant ripped it off its hinges while the other one nearly killed the paladin of Athena with a single boulder.
With a cry of "Girl Power" Helga, Dajamira, Pepper, and Sky pretty solidly kicked the crap out of two of the hill giants, with Doby hopping up and giving withering arrow support. Mikhail timeshifted through the massive melee and engaged the last giant, quickly aided by Helga and Pepper, then the rest of the party. Marc administered the killing blow to two of the giants, regaining much of his lost strength.
The heroes searched more of the dungeon and found alchemical supplies and workrooms as well as a scriptorium. In the search, Helga, Sky, Elric, and Semi ran afoul of a roper hiding in some rubble. The creature nailed Helga and started chopping on her, while Sky found herself nearly too weak to even fight. But the rest of the party charged to the rescue and very quickly put the roper on the defensive! After Helga lost consciousness, the monster tried to swallow her, but Daj aided by Pepper and Dion pulled the dwarf to safety. Jellie's spectral force of a fire elemental, meanwhile, was particularly effective at "discouraging" the roper from putting things (adventurers!) in its mouth...! 8-P
In the end, the heroes finished off the monster and started searching the huge magical laboratory. That's when Elric noticed the scroll with big lettering...

Which is right about when the babau appeared...but the game had to cut there.
