The heroes (Ichi, Torr, Maedhros, Kyron with Dart and Ahusaka, Squattingbeaver, and Lowdog) woke up the morning of the 11th and decided to rest rather than again attempt to tackle Chateauenfer. Kyron again pointed out that he would need to leave the party soon in order to be at his wife's side when his son was born; having lost his right leg would only make his journey home slower, thus time was running out.
Squattingbeaver brought Kryon and Lowdog to the site of the berry bushes in order to create goodberries. Unfortunately, a group of six harpies had decided to roost in the small wood. While they couldn't charm any of the party, the monsters did drop Squattingbeaver and Dart. Kyron reached for his hammer of thunderbolts but it was knocked from his grasp, unsteady as he already was on one leg! Lowdog fought valiantly, but proved very unlucky. It was only with the aid of Ahusaka, who was also knocked out, that the heroes survived. Using the last of their curative magics, the group made it back to the plateau in roughly the same state as they left!
The day passed without incident, but that evening a spirit came to visit while Maedhros and Torr were on watch. Intangible, the entity attempted to first possess Lowdog and then Kyron repeatedly. A few magic missiles from the half-elf followed by Torr's magical sword and Ichi's martial prowess destroyed the creature's essence.
The next day, the heroes rested without any incident whatsoever. They moved from the plateau to the berry grove and while some scavengers picked over the harpies' corpses, nothing bothered the party.
The following morning, the group headed back into the city. Astride brooms with Kyron flying (thanks to Maedhros) and carrying Sqauttingbeaver, the party reached the location of the runestone without incident. The group quickly destroyed the six ghouls skulking about the entrance and drove off the large, squat, frog-like demon that was with them.
Once inside the structure, the heroes battled and quickly destroyed 13 more ghouls and 4 more harpies, although this new group of undead included three gun'ners. Finding a method to reach the lower level, the party descended...into gunfire from three more ghoulish gun'ners!
Before the party could reach these fiends, two gargoyles intercepted them while three shadows swept among the heroes' ranks. Maedhros just turn the undead while Torr, Ichi, and Kyron (still flying) ripped through the gargoyles. Focusing on the ghouls, the heroes then attacked the undead with Maedhros repeatedly turning the monsters again and again. Lowdog and Torr were each hit once by a shadow, but nothing serious.
Further along the heroes came to a set of three doors. Opening the middle one, they found themselves facing some strange demon with extremely long hands and fingers, yet no eyes. The majority of the fiends' faces were sharp teeth! Torr destroyed one and Kyron and Ichi took out the other. Unfortunately, in the melee, the third dimension doored to the rear of the group and attacked. Lowdog tried to defeat the monster, but it wrapped it's claws around the Flan warrior and disappeared....!
Thinking quickly, Maedhros cast detect invisibility while Squattingbeaver looked around. Sure enough, the monster had somehow brought Lowdog ethereal. The shaman dispelled the pair back to the Prime Material and the heroes attacked, but the demon teleported away to safety.
Ichi tried one of the other doors, setting off a fire trap and (since the monk is blind) leaving a glyph of warding for Torr! The healers again went to work, patching up the damage. Continuing along, the heroes came to a richly appointed room with crushed red velvet wall paper and drapes and guilded everything...
Plus the demoness Lamashtu along with both demons the heroes had previously driven off! Torr took on the eye-less thing, hoping to reach the demoness as quickly as possible. Ichi and Lowdog took on the squat type II demon. And Kyron flew right at Lamashtu herself!
The paladin made short work of his demon, but Lamashtu psychically attacked Kyron after the ranger passed harmlessly through the demoness' body. Maedhros' detect invisibility paid off here as he pointed out where the type V was really hidding in the corner of the room, behind a dressing screen. Ichi and Lowdog finished off their foe as the ranger and paladin closed on Lamashtu.
The demoness responded with a powerful psionic blast that dropped Squattingbeaver, interrupting his chant, as well as Maedhros and Lowdog. Kyron, Torr, and Ichi missed and the demoness psychically crushed Torr, so he bled from his nose and ears. The heroes attacked again but again couldn't breach her scales and the demoness vented on the poor monk, forcing him from combat. Now, however, Lowdog took Ichi's place while Maedhros started to pass around aid spells to bolster the heroes. Two quick hits seriously damaged the demoness. Two more destroyed her...!
Thanks to Squattingbeaver's earlier dowsing the heroes know that they're VERY close...!
