The Red Queen and the White Queen checkmate the Fat Bishop
Tired of hearing about Mordrammo targeting her son, Jasmine, the White Witch of Klarr contacts her old friend, Kephalonia, the Red Witch of Klarr and Duchess DiShane of Greyhawk. Putting their heads together, the two women come up with a plan to deal with the overweight priest of Ghaunadaur once and for all.
Kephalonia hires a mid-level mage from Greyhawk, putting him on retainer and bringing the man to Klarr. There, she and Jasmine gather a party including Adama (payback is a bitch!), Corvin Oakmead (local dwarven noble), Saanau (long-time Medegian ally), Manga (although still a dryad, freed by Mikhail's daisy chain), Dada (Keph's associate), Bush (Keph and Dada's "pet" orc with fantastic strength), Luthor (noble monk from the Scarlet brother hood, charmed, influenced, and enslaved by Jas, Keph, Manga, and Saanau) and Omega (also ensorcelled) to deal with the High Priest of the Elder Elemental God once and for all. The idea is simple; scry him back every day until Kephalonia gets a glimpse of where he is. Then, use a probability controlled dimensional fold to transport the group to him!
It takes three days before Kephalonia gets a lock on the man -- he's sitting on his bed putting on his boots. With practiced easy, the Duchess snaps her fingers and puts her plan into motion. Space folds, the gate opens, the party charges through, and at the last minute, Kephalonia and Omega are left in Klarr...! Uh oh...
Corvin charges from the corner of Mordrammo's personal chambers and attacks the man, scoring first blood. Joining him are Bush the orc, and Luthor bearing a silence stone. Not only is the priest locked in combat, but he can't speak to cast spells! Dada comes up behind him for a backstab while Adama, Jasmine, Saanau and her cooshe familiar Celeem also get into the room. That's when the heroes realize how paranoid Mordrammo is -- the room is FULL of skeletons and shadows!
To make matters worse, these are Mordrammo's PRIVATE quarters...Corvin manages to avoid the first glyph of warding but Saanau is not so lucky and her eyes rot out of her head!
Meanwhile, Saanau, Celeem, and Jasmine are trapped by the skeletons and zombies and the cooshe almost dies in the first assault. That's when the dark orange blob joins the fight! At the same time, a skeleton stuns Adama and Luthor is seriously wounded. Not a great start!
Mordrammo draws his mace while the heroes are pummeled by undead. Jasmine dusts herself with undead repellent and Saanau flies to the roof while Celeem bolts for cover. Unfortunately, the silence covers enough of the room to prevent ANYONE from spell-casting! Corvin and Bush try to tangle with Mordrammo and Dada tries twice to stab him, but some force keeps causing reality to shimmer so that it take two strikes to connect! Only slightly wounded, the priest gets ready for his minions to save him.
Kephalonia uses a second dimensional fold to bring herself and Omega into the room. The half-orc bounty hunter sinks two arrows into his former employer while Kephalonia dusts herself and then Adama. Saanau uses Celeem's eyes to target magic missiles on the shadows chasing her familiar, but doesn't finish them. Jasmine dives to the far side of the room, already wounded by the ochre jelly, but warded from the skeletons. Luthor wavers and Bush smashes his way through undead. Manga is caught in the corner of the room. His foes appears to be a single skeleton, but it's warm. Each time the dryad hits the creature with her axe, her weapon heats up until she's forced to drop it!
Bush now connects with Mordrammo, seriously wounding him. Corvin does the same and the fearsome cleric falls to the ground. Not wanting to leave anything to change, Dada bravely chops the man's head off, even through it means exposing her back to two skeletons and a shadow. As the blade ends the fat man's life, a shimmering, nearly-invisible shadow seems to split off from him and rush at the elf. She dodges to the side and the thing dissipates into the ether... But Mordrammo, High Priest of Ghaunadaur, the Elder Elemental God, is DEAD!
Several of the undead facing Jasmine find themselves thwarted by her dust, so they blink to the attack and go after Omega, Luthor, and Celeem! The elven dog crumples. But now Jasmine is free of the silence and begins unleashing magic missiles of her own -- two volleys take out the ochre jelly. The elven mage is doing poorly and can't attack back since she can't see. Omega changes to a sword, but then takes Kephalonia's magical dagger and begins slicing shadows. Adama regains her feet and telekinetically tosses the silence stone to the other side of the room, thereby allowing Kephalonia to cast spells and use her staff. Jasmine, meanwhile, has invoked her golden lion and gotten with the rest of the group!
Luthor falls as does Dada. Corvin begins taking out skeletons in earnest and Kephalonia turns, removing only two. Bush, wielding Corvin's morningstar of speed, is smashing a path of shattered bone across the room until he rejoins Jasmine. Unfortunately, however, a nasty hit to the ribs and a touch from a shadow take some of the fight out of the witless-but-powerful orc. Manga is having a very tough time and has had to fall back to her other sword, it too quickly heating up.
Jasmine is able to move among the undead as she hasn't targeted any herself and uses a kiss of healing first on Celeem and then on Dada. Adama unleashes a detonate on the skeleton in the far side of the room, clearing them, but bringing a gray ooze into the fray. The heat skeleton breaks most of Manga's ribs, leaving her a victim to attacks and nothing more. Kephalonia uses her staff, Fireheart to incinerate first a shadows and then skeleton. Bush is doing okay, but Corvin's armor in heating up fast and he also is forced to fall back to his hand axe.
Everyone is fairly badly wounded by this point, but with the priest gone and the party once again together, they quickly regroup. Adama psychic crushes the gray ooze and then telekinetically starts using it as a battering ram against the heat skeletons. Bush smashes through all the remaining lesser skeletons, so that only the three blinks skeletons, a heat skeleton, and a shadow remain. The heroes finish off the last of the undead and tend to the wounded briefly. A quick find traps shows that EVERYTHING is magically warded, so the heroes gather their things and a few bit of treasure as well as Mordrammo's head and body, and leave.
Total time, about three minutes and totally silent!
