The heroes (Dion, Mikhail with Samhain, Sky, Cliffy, Daj, Pepper, Semi, Ingemar, Kirby, Helga, Jellie, and Thera in Clanndennagh's body) tend to the wounded while Dajamira and Semi defeat the last earth elemental within the Temple. Just then (while no one is on watch near him!) Mikhail is tending to Samhain and spies more than a half dozen more stone-lizardmen charging! He warns the heroes. Sky, Helga, and Ingemar form a fighting line while Cliffy tosses a web which catches all of the creatures but the lead two. Sky easily crushes one and although Helga is dropped, Ingemar, Pepper, and Daj slaughter the other.
During the fight, Cliffy wisely slipped away and checked the other hallway, where he saw another band of stone-lizardmen. A second web took those out as well and bought the heroes nearly two hours...
With everyone back on their feet, the party returned to the Earth Temple. Semi ascended the earthen mound and touched the bronze chest, FEELING the evil of it. Taking three vials of holy water from Dion, the paladin of Athena annointed the chest, the bronze quickly patinaing. He then opened the container and similarly treated the evil sacrificial bronze objects therein -- a maul, a dagger, a bowl, and an ewer. Finally, he used the last vial to annoint the earthen mound itself.
Thera took stage now, casting a long and complicated ceremony to deconsecrate the temple and undo its power. Calling upon Hades, the priestess managed to complete the spell in only forty minutes! With a tangible vibration, the heroes felt the power of the Earth Temple fail!
The heroes gathered themselves together and headed for the exit. That's when the pounding began! As they were leaving, a great black elephant with blood tusks and white, lifeless eyes smashed down the huge bronze doors to the lower level. The creature charged, but was distracted by Jellie's illusions and Dajamira's throwing scimitar long enough for the heroes to escape down a more narrow hallway...and out the dungeon!
Once outside, the heroes decided to head back to the High Road (near Griffon Mountain). Halfway between Nulb and the Temple, the group headed overland. Amid the brush, the rangers and trackers in front noted something in the brush. That's when the two werewolves pounced on the party. The heroes quick fought both off and killed them, but not before Thera (in Clanndennagh's body) was slashed and Kirby seriously mauled. Mikhail tended to their wounds and explained that belladonna was needed to fight off the disease...and Daj still had some fresh herbs from her previous trip into Nulb!
The group hiked to their previous campsite off the High Road to rest and recover. Semi went straight to sleep while Mikhail meditated to regain his mental powers so as to psionically heal the others. Jellie played in the forest and then hopped up into a tree. Just before sunset, the group spied a brilliant vortex headed toward them -- like an aerial servant, but composed of raidient energy!
Mikhail timeshifted and the heroes grouped around the paladins Semi and Kirby. The cyclone circled Semi at a distance of 10' as if seeking something. When Mikhail returned to normal time, the cyclone lurched forward, only to be repelled by Semi's aura. In the process, however, the elemental entity flashed with a brilliant light that blinded nearly a third of the heroes!
Thera stepped up and cast abjure and the energy cyclone. And in a poof, it was gone! Wow! Nice work, Hades!
The heroes settled down to sleep, with Mikhail moving among the party as they slumbered, using his psionic powers to psychically heal their wounds. In the morning, everyone was back to full strength save Sky (60 of 61) and Helga (17 of 44).
