VICTORY AND DEFEAT!
On the morning of the 16th, the party (Dion, Clanndennagh, Mikhail with Samhain, Sky, Moonlight with Quicksilver, Cliffy, Adama, and Semi) sets out from Tannorim back to the Temple of Elemental Evil. The trek takes two days and passes without incident. The group enters through the front gate, where they battle eleven gnolls, four ghouls, and three bugbear (although three of the ghouls are simply turned). The group then heads to the shattered window. Adama levitates most of the group through, leaving only Clanndennagh and Dion. While the cleric of apollo uses the rope Cliffy placed to get up, he suddenly is shot by arrows! At first, neither Dion nor Clanndennagh is sure what's happening, then the psychic warrior catches sight of a familiar stocky half-orc -- Omega!
Dion climbs through the window while Clanndennagh charges the bounty hunter. Meanwhile, Adama levitates herself, Sky, and Cliffy through the window to join the fight. In the time it takes them to come through, Clanndennagh has charged Omega, but been hacked down. The half-orc has clearly recovered from his horsemouth and is in near peak condition. In less than 20 seconds, the Baklun is down and bleeding to death. Omega, however, is prevented from administering the coup de grace as Cliffy rains multiple volleys of magic missiles on the man and Adama stuns him with a psionic blast. This gives Sky time to catch up and loop her coils around the reeling bounty hunter. Unfortunately, his arms are free and he lashes out with his sword, seriously wounding Sky. Cliffy continues with his spells and Adama unleashes her fearsome molecular disruption, catching the half-orc full in the chest and vaporizing the front of his ribs and internal organs!
The pain is excruciating, rendering the hasted bounty hunter helpless and defenseless. At that point Mikhail charges in, having teleported himself and Samhain to the outside of the Temple grounds. The giant weasel joined Sky as the young salamander crushed the life out of Omega. He collapsed and the heroes finally were victorious over their most dogged foe...
Meanwhile, Moonlight has climbed out of the window to help. Just as she reaches the ground, a pair of blades stab into her back. "No offense, dear, it's nothing personal," soothes Lassivar. Two more strikes drop her, although now Adama and Cliffy are charging him. The assassin tosses down a pair of smoke pellets, dropping his dagger, and in the confusion scoops up the downed druidess and flies into the air. Mikhail teleports in an attempt to grab Moonlight, but misses and falls with a crash to the ground.
"Seriously, just let her go and our business will be done. It's nothing personal; this will satisfy my contract. Although," he pauses, "I would be willing to trade..." he finishes meaningfully while eyeing Mikhail.
Mikhail calls to Adama to back him up and again attempts to teleport in order to catch Lassivar, but again misses. Only his sister's telekinetic abilities of levitation break the young psi's fall enough for him to survive the fall from over 150'.
During all this time, Dion and Semi are still within the Temple, trying to find another way out. Now the cleric of Apollo joins the others outside but it's too late. Clanndennagh has succumb to the posion on Omega's blade...in just a week, again the Baklunish psychic warrior is dead. In addition, Moonlight is gone, carried off by Lassivar. But, Omega is the prisoner of the heroes...
The heroes search through Omega's gear. Among his possessions is a potion that turns out to allow teleportation. Mikhail drinks it and heads to Tannorim in order to get help from Brand and Allyrion. About five minutes later, Brand appears next to his daughter, Adama, with Mikhail. The mage itemizes Clanndennagh and agrees to get him revived -- Allyrion isn't available, so Brand will go to Greyhawk. He agrees to meet back up with the heroes in Tannorim.
The heroes walk back to Tannorim over the next two days, again without any incident. Once there, however, the heroes get the bad news -- Clanndennagh's body couldn't handle the stress and he did not return to life. Worse, his soul is now captive to the Elder Elemental God...
The evening of the 20th, Daj and Pepper return, thanks to the efforts of her father, Gamoth. With them is a woman the group met in Greyhawk -- a friend of Pepper's from Klarr. Her name is Ingemar, a Norsk fighter.
All together, the new group leaves the following morning. Within an hour, the wind starts to blow but only Mikhail reacts in before the aerial servant attacks. Luckily, the young psi time shifts to safety and the confused elemental is quickly taken out by the other heroes. The group continues without incident to the Temple.
In the afternoon of the 22nd, the group reaches the site of their previous battle. There, the bodies of the gnolls and bugbear have become a feast for many dozen giant rats. The heroes make quick work of the rodents and in the process encounter Kirby, a paladin of Tyr. The heroes then head back into the above-ground portion of the Temple, searching it all. The party descends via the large central staircase to the first level beneath the temple, but come upon huge bronze door engraved with powerful magical runes. The mere sight of these glyphs repulse Ingemar and Sky, while the rest of the party retreats with them. The heroes then descend to the first level via the side staircase on the side of the "moss green robes"...
