The heroes (Ichi, Maedhros, and Kyron) decide to carry Torr and Woody out of the Church basement. Unfortunately, both are very large men and only Kyron is willing to handle the werepuma, thus he hefts up the Flan warrior over his shoulder while the other two strip the paladin, Ichi carrying Torr's body and Maedhros bringing his equipment. After climbing all the way back up to the Church, the heroes realize that there's no way to bring both of these men across the river, much less back to the gate. So they go back into the basement and hide behind a set of secret doors after quickly checking out the door at the far end.
An hour passes and Torr recovers. This time, with Kyron carrying Woody, the group attempts to return to Oerth. Meanwhile four ghouls have entered the Church above, but the heroes make fairly short work of the undead (although once again, Kyron gets paralyzed very quickly). Once away from the Church, the heroes are able to reach Deer Leap Hill, where they speak with Montrose. The werecrow tells them that the spirits of the wizard family suggested the group gather magical supplies from their home, but watch out for their minions and traps. The party is clearly too beaten for such a task and agrees to return the next day.
Back on Oerth, Black Robe tends to the wounded, using his spiritual powers to revive Woody's shocked soul (hey, he did lose and regain seven levels in less than a minute). The Flan shaman had just gotten done tending to their elven companion, Saanau, and used one of his cure critical wounds spells to reverse the necrosis, mend the bone, and restore the tissue cut away to reach the bullet in her. Now, having exhausted all his other healing spells on the party, Black Robe lays down to sleep, with the Charn party on watch.
The group goes through the numerous magical stones they found and experiments with a few of them. They also make an attempt at some treasure division.
Sometime after midnight, while Kyron and Woody are on watch outside the stone circle, a lone man, ostensibly a wizard walks up to them. He tries to speak, but understand neither Common, Lakota, Huron, or Ogre. Finally, clearly irritated at Woody's gestures to leave, the man summon eight gargoyle-like monsters (berbalang) and attacks, calling out in his own, strange tongue. Soon, eight githyanki arrive...
The battle is fairly short, with the heroes doing quite well. Saanau saves the day by first magic missiling the man/githyanki/illusionist and then lightning bolting his lieutenants. Torr falls victim to a psi blast that knocks him out for hours, but otherwise, in the end, only a single githyanki escapes... In deed, the heroes recover several of their magical items, which they barter to Black Robe in the morning for a legend lore on Ichi's magic broom (he'd had it for quite some time, and suspected it could fly, but only now had the incentive to find out!).
On the morning of the 21st, the heroes return to Charn. Before leaving, Black Robes uses his hunting paint spell to ward Woody, Kyron, Dart, and Saanau from ghouls. On the other side of the gate, waiting in ambush, are four such undead, which the party take out, but not before they nearly kill Maedhros. The heroes tend him and Montrose helps, having been waiting for the group on top of the henge's lintel. The shaman gives the party more goodcherries and send them on their way.
The group decides to get what resources they can from the wizards' tower before tackling the dark cloud above them. En route, the group destroy a total of 22 MORE ghouls, including four at the door in the tower's base. One group had a number of magical stones and potions, which the heroes pocket. Once in the tower, the party deals first with an illusionary lion, then eight skeletons and four zombies, as well as several magical runes and wizard locked doors and four more zombies. Finally, the heroes reach the thaumaturgic lab, where they battle a robot-like iron pig. Gathering generations worth of spell books as well as many scrolls and potions, the heroes set off to deal with the dark cloud above...
One of the potions the heroes found was a potion of flight, which they split between Torr and Woody. Maedhros joins Ichi on his now-functional broom, Hexen, while Saanau has her magical sandals. Woody is strong enough with the enhancement of the enchanted stone he found to carry Kyron while Dart can fly on his own. At 1000' feet the heroes intersect the darkness, dispelling it in a radius of thousands of feet and letting the light of the afternoon sun finally touch Pommeville below...! Above is a single, large, reed basket with a bulb above it and rope lines, similar to those used in a sailing ship, extending away from the basket in all directions. During the climb of the next 1000', something begins to shoot at the heroes, never really managing more than a grazing shot. Saanau and Ichi (with Maedhros) decide to break away from the slower fliers and deal with this new threat.
Saanau, far quicker with her sandals, gets within 1000' of the basket before she spies the ghoul gunner attacking them. This one is using a very long-nosed thunderstick with tremendous range. Also, gliding weightlessly over the various ropes are eight shadows. Finally, the ghoul manages more than just a minor flesh wound, nailing Maedhros in the head. The poor half-elf reels from the pain and falls off the broom. Were it not for Ichi's quickly turning around, he would surely have died, since the half-elven cleric/mage was nearly 200' above Torr and Woody as well as thousands of feet above the town.
The elven mage zooms ahead now as the shadows crowd on the various ropes and tie-lines to reach to her. She unleashes a wizard's wrath on the ghoul gunner, destroying him. Just as Ichi and Maedhros arrive at the basket, an angel of death swoops out of the clouds of darkness, while the shadows advance along the ropes. Before landing Saanau spied a pair of skeletons working a bellows and feeding another large fire under the large bulb; the mage uses a magic missile to destroy one and damage the other. Maedhros turns the last skeleton and one shadow, while Saanau unleashes another wizard's wrath, this time at the angel of death, destroying it. Unfortunately, the shadows drop both Maedhros and Ichi and nearly defeat Saanau too. She manages to escape on her magical sandals, just as Torr, Woody, and Kyron arrive. Torr turns most of the shadows while the other two finish off the last one and the skeleton. Using the last of their healing abilities the heroes stabilize the monk and cleric/mage before flying back for the gate. Before they leave, Torr draws his sword of sundering and slices through all the ropes connecting the basket. The top part floats up and the bottom plummets to the ground below...
The heroes again return to Oerth where they settle in to rest, recover and be healed by Black Robe. In the evening, after both parties go to bed, seven hook horrors come through the henges of Tovag Baragu and attack. Saanau, normally very alert on watch, doesn't seem the stealth-less creatures until they're actually attacking. As a result, the monsters cause a disproportionate amount of damage before being destroyed. Finally, the heroes get some sleep...
