The party (Dion, Clanndennagh, Marc, Mikhail with Samhain, Sky, Cliffy, and Max) continued to rest until late in the afternoon, with Clanndennagh and Mikhail meditating and Cliffy searching the walls for secret passages and rooms for treasure. After Dajamira returned from Jaroo’s grove in Hommlet around 4pm, Clanndennagh began using his mental powers to psychically heal the wounded party members, stabilizing everyone’s health before fixing Marc and Dion critical injuries as well as Cliffy’s arm (but not foot). As the party prepared to sleep around 9pm, Mikhail gathered up Samhain and Sky and teleported to the edge of Hommlet, appearing slightly off-target and falling.
The young psi visited Jaroo’s grove, where all three were healed and obtained additional good berries. Then, the group visited the Church of St. Cuthbert, where they obtained additional healing, returning to Jaroo’s grove to spend the night.
In the morning, the party regrouped after Mikhail teleported himself and his companions back into the dungeon. Clanndennagh had managed to restore most everyone, although Cliffy’s left foot was still broken. The party tracked back to the crypt, where they encountered a pile of sand. Marc advanced on it but just before he reached it, it swept out fine grit, putting nearly all the heroes to sleep. Only Marc, Sky, Daj, and Cliffy remained awake. Marc scored a pair of hits before succumbing to slumber. That’s when the three ghouls showed up. Cliffy kept hacking the sandman while Daj used a web to stop the incoming undead and block off the far end of the crypt. One escaped the dweomer, but the others were caught, and from the sound of it, the web blocked still more undead from joining the fight. The party finished off the sandling and ghoul, then waited over a half hour before the other heroes began to awaken.
Except for Max, everyone was back on their feet (the neophyte fighter just couldn’t come conscious). The party set the web on fire and then began slaughtering ghouls. Dion turned most of the creatures back, effectively splitting them into two groups. Another web from Cliffy took one group and the heroes attacked the other. Unfortunately, the heroes didn’t coordinate their attack and this time the ghouls got the upper hand, paralyzing both Dion and Daj. Ultimately, the party was victorious and finished all the ghouls, webbed and otherwise.
Cliffy volunteered to explore a low, narrow burrow leading off from the crypts, with the support of Sky and Sammy. He found a nest of sorts for the ghoul, complete with treasure and bones. Marc, Sky, and Samhain (with Mikhail maintaining a telepathic link) explored a series of tunnels from this lair, locating a passage that came out near the edge of Hommlet. About 45 minutes later, after the explorers crawled back, the group continued searching the underground complex.
The group returned to the two new, locked doors they’d previously bypassed near the entrance to the basement. Cliffy used his wand to locate a trap and set about disarming it. Unfortunately, he failed, and green slime fell on him! The group tried to wash it off, but the goo just stuck on. Finally, Daj, wincing, asked the party to throw oil on the poor elf and used a firefinger to ignite him. The flames engulfed the poor thief, but managed to kill off the slime. Cliffy nearly joined it.
The heroes used quite a bit of their healing abilities to save the elf. He lost the upper layer of his skin (it had transformed into slime) as well as some muscle. Further, the flames completely incapacitated Cliffy’s left arm. Clanndennagh used his psionic abilities stabilized the thief’s condition and then the group returned to Hommlet. On the way out, the group rat into a group of rats that had begun feeding on the lizard men bodies, but Mikhail telepathically asked the rodents to let the heroes pass.
In the morning of the 14th, the party returned to the Moathouse, after having spent the night in the Welcome Wench. At the ruins, the group noticed that one of the rats had been impaled by a javelin or spear. Mikhail telepathically questioned the rats, discovering that a lizard men had attacked since the group had last been in the moathouse. Daj quickly explained that she had bandaged and dragged to safety three lizard men two days before. Marc charged down the hall, clearly intent on slaughtering the reptiles, but hesitated when the lone conscious lizard man fell to his knees and groveled for his life, buying Dajamira enough time to interpose herself between the beastmaster and his victim. The rats, meanwhile, were eager to attack the lizard men, but Daj stopped them with a sleep spell. She then moved to kill the slumbering vermin. Marc was enraged and decked the already feeble lizard man. It was the rats’ lives for the lizard man’s. Daj took the deal, begging Clanndennagh to at least stabilize the freshly-wounded one. With that conflict averted, the heroes continued.
Next the party investigated the moathouse’s water supply, battling a giant crawfish. Marc and Clanndennagh were both fairly badly wounded, but the psychic warrior also found another exit from the ruins into the stagnant waters of the moat. The group continued on, investigating the various doors the gnoll had indicated were trapped.
The party battled a mummy (suddenly understanding the drow’s notes on enchanting mummy bandages to bind wounds), then Cliffy set off another trap, an enchanted fire glyph. Afterwards, the heroes defeated a wight (which drained Marc of a level temporarily) and a gelatinous cube, but left a single door behind which bore a magical trap. The party searched all the remaining bodies and rooms and then headed back to Hommlet. Before they left, Dajamira asked for a handful of goodberries and told the group she needed to stay behind to take care of the wounded lizard men.
The heroes cleaned up at the Welcome Wench after speaking with Jaroo and the clerics of Cuthbert. In the evening, Burne, the local mage, and Rufus, his fighter ally, showed up, offering the heroes whatever support they might require.
