After returning and healing from their previous run, the lower level group filled Flint and Arthur in on what had happened. Arthur suggested getting more intelligence on the lizard men and Su volunteered to sneak back in, using his native ability to read minds and an invisibility spell from Arthur.
Two hours passed and no word from Su. Cloe, Isaac, Sabuto, and Arthur joined by <Craig's unnamed new PC> set out ot rescue the doppleganger. They reached the lair without incident and Arthur, using his robe of eyes, tracked a lizard man back to the site of the battle. There, it was clear that a number of lizard men had arrived and carried off the bodies. The lizard man that the group had been tracking had followed.
Arthur cast detect magic and planned to invisibly scout after Su using a potion of flight. First, however, he discovered a magical candle in the former home of Grastic, near the body of his lost love. Proceeding with his plan, Arthur soon noted that a large group of lizard men had been alerted by the party's lights and were watching them carefully. Another group was preparing to attack as well. Suddenly, there was a scream and commotion in the lizard man village. Most of the warriors returned to the huts to investigate.
At about that time, another lizard man dove into the stream with a large sack of objects and fled. Other lizard men gave chase. Arthur flew upstream to investigate there, finding the lair of a giant spider.
Meanwhile, Sabuto spied the fleeing lizard man, who turned and in fluent Elvish screamed "Run for your lives!" The group crossed the stream and hooked up with Su-the-now-human, still clutching a sack of lumps. The party fled the dungeon, spears and javelins missing their mark all about.
Arthur noticed the upper caverns and saw the light of the fleeing party. Using his flight, he started connecting caves and quickly caught up with the heroes.
Back on the ship, Su explained that he was unable to recover the shaman's body, but was able to slip into the city undetected. Once inside, he began killing sleeping lizard men and collecting their heads. When the party arrived, he not only saw their light, but also read the minds of the now-alerted sentries. He let out a scream to draw attention to the "murders" and in the confusion fled.
