VICTORY!
The heroes (Cloe, Isaac, Orn, Jamal, Sabuto, Amaryllis, Ariadne, and Epicasta, later joined by Arthur) slow whittled down the ju ju zombies and the finished off the shadows. In the process, Isaac and Jamal got a little beaten up, but not seriously and the various healers were able to easily tend the injuries.
Orn then had a great idea (inspired by Ariadne) to psionically dimension door one of the urns to the surface. In order to deal with the weight, he would need a lighten load which the cleric of Hades could provide. Ariadne cast the spell on the party and one urn. Orn then ferried the party out in groups of two, ending with the urn. On the surface the urn erupted to life, but a man in ancient Grecian garb simply burned with regular flame within the urn.
Orn then meditated on the surface for two and a half hours while the healers freely used their healing magics. After which, the group returned to the Lost Shrine. There, Sabuto spied a man in ancient garb in the (less) shadowy temple. A moment later, the party was ambushed by two more vampires (plus the man!). Sabuto was charmed and turned on the group. Orn was nearly killed immediately. Cloe charged to the rescue, while Jamal took on one vampire and Epicasta moved to protect Amaryllis. The White Witch transfered the charm on Sabuto to herself, freeing the kensai who then moved to help Orn. The cleric of Kor used his mental powers to shift the vampire he was fighting to the surface where it quickly died. Meanwhile, in the caverns the other heroes made surprisingly short work of the the last two vampires (although their charming power did claim several victims).
After putting the last two vampired to (eternal) rest, the group rested again. Orn meditated for another hour and half after which Ariadne again lighten loaded a second urn (and the party). Orn again ferried the group out of the Shrine and end with the urn. This time, however, nothing appeared and the black flames almost immediately went out.
It would appear that after more than 1100 years, Thanatos has been dealt a serious blow...
