Beaten and barely alive, the crew of the Destiny decided to fight the followers of Thanatos in the morning. The ship set out for deeper water to hide and rest the night.
In the morning of the 11th, Cloe assumed the shape of a bird and flew over the island. On the far side, sheltered about 600' offshore were TWO sohars. Neither had a large compliment onboard, but there were many ghouls, zombies, and skeletons milling about on the beach.
Using water breathing and pass without wake spells from Cloe and William, Isaac, Cloe, Su, Sabuto, Orn, and William rowed a boat almost within sight of the sohars, then swam underwater nearly between them. Meanwhile, under cover of invisibility and using a fly, Flint and Asha controled the sky above the ships.
The underwater group got nearly halfway between the two vessels when they were seen and attacked by a group of six lacedons. The group destroyed one and turned the rest. Rather than risk both ships escaping, Cloe decided to cast call lightning then and there, using a potion of chameleon to blend in on the surface while Su held her up. William did the same with Isaac holding him. Unfortunately, halfway through their spells, another wave of lacedons attacked. Sabuto took out three, but Isaac was paralyzed and William's spell interrupted before Orn turned the last three.
Cloe completed her spell and the resultant bolt of lightning shattered the first sohar's mast. The underwater group swam away, out toward sea now as Cloe waited for another bolt to form. Before it did, a huge wave of lacedons and shadows surprised the heroes and attacked. With a bit of luck, all the sea-ghouls were turned and the shadows turned. Cloe's second bolt shot clean through the ship, holing it and igniting the deck. The sohar was doomed...
Meanwhile, Flint and Asha were lashing out at the second sohar. Flint's fireball set the sails aflame, although did not cause much other harm, beside incinerating the two men in the crow's nest. Asha's lightning bolt sheared off the ropes on one side of the mast, but did little else. Archers began to fire at the pair, but a second volley of lightning bolts had a devastating effect. The second sohar sprung a leak, began to list to one side, and the main deck was blasted through. Flint dropped a huge rock and Isaac's Greek fire from nearly 100' feet, holing the ship and setting sections on fire. Several men died instantly in the flames. Clearly, the second sohar was also doomed.
At this point, the two fliers spied the underwater group, as well as a skotos moving in to get them. Each using a volley of magic missiles, Flint and Asha destroyed the Greek-wraith.
With both ships damaged beyond any easy repair, the heroes moved off to plan their next move in the tropical morning sun.
