Arthur lead Isaac, Sabuto, Orn, Amaryllis, and Ariadne back into the lower level of the ruins on Rumelia. There, the group managed quite a bit of exploration. They uncovered a suite of rooms that clearly predated the miniature acropolis and even uncovered quite a lot of the history through Orn's ability to "read the stones". The group also uncovered a secret door leading (ostensibly) to the holy site of Hades, but en route they encountered a section of wall with a demoness bound in it. Sabuto, using his kiai power was able to defeat the succubus easily enough, but on the other side, the group found a man and woman in a frozen room. Sabuto shattered the man's mummified body, but Ariadne saved the woman via an endure cold spell. Using Amaryllis' communicate spell, the group learned that the woman, Epicaste, was a former inhabitant of the ruins. Moreover, she revealed the secret, plastered-over location of the "hidden shrine of Thanatos".

Arthur REALLY wants to know how to turn a portal on and off again (even temporarily - like with a dispell magic or some such...) But of course, I NEED information....

I also want to talk with Chloe about "convincing" Epicaste that she has been frozen for awhile. Hmmmm, I wonder if their are portals that mess with the flow of time.... Is it possible to take her back home.. Is that wise... I wonder what we are going to do with her? She needs to be "out of the way" when we take down the Shrine OR throughly convinced we are on the right path.

Only way I know of to shut down the portal is to destroy it.
