David,
Which set of rules will we be using for Naval Situations?
of Ships and the Sea?
Or do you have an other set (home-grown that is...)

of Ships of the sea is cool (and I just happen to have a copy of that tome. Also, I want to figure out a way to improve a ship's seaworthiness rating. with a 17 - that means 15% of the time when trouble hits your ship is going down. I know there are ways to modify that number (I really want to get it to a more reasonable value). Steve

Howdy Steven,
I'll review the rules again tonight, but I believe the seaworthiness is for use when something major happens. Most of the time, I believe you get a bonus on the roll (thus crossing a calm sea is a gimme, but riding out a major storm is trouble). I believe the top ships are 17 or 18. There are a couple of ways to improve (if not from OS&S then from Pirates of the Fallen Stars), but I believe they're fairly expensive. I believe the FarSpear used one kind of upgrade and the SeaWolf another. I think the Blessed Harmonia was straight. I'll look 'em over tonight and get back to you.
