Later in the evening, as the crew got ready to sleep, a fog gently rolled over the Destiny. Near midnight, while most of the crew and officers slept, the lights of watch suddenly dimmed and went out...!
Skeletons had climbed up the anchor chains, each with a continual darkstone in its mouth. More, several waves of shadows gently slid over the water and up the sides of the ship. Within moments, two crew members had fallen. Although surprised, miraculously Sabuto managed to stay on his feet. Flint, Su, and Cloe attacked back, with the mystic turning several waves of the undead. Djak fired crossbows down into the dark melee from the safety of the crows nest. Meanwhile, a skotos began battling Sabuto. Although an excellent warrior, the kensai couldn't seem to manage to land a single blow on the spectral being and was further harassed by shadows.
Orn reached the deck, also turning the undead. Cloe, unfortunately, found herself suddenly surrounded and overwhelmed, her strength drained so low that she fell to the deck below. She managed another turn, despite her failing strength, while Orn cleared most of the rest of the deck. And yet, more shadows, lacedons (sea ghouls), and skeletons kept coming. Flint's magic missiles scored on the skotos, but even better he was able to secure one anchor line with a web. Su, meanwhile, reached Cloe and protected her, while Orn continued to turn and Sabuto slowly worked away at the skotos [DM's note: Ray, next time you physically strike a skotos, I need to hurt you!].
Just then, as the officers finally began to get control of the deck, a shadow demon arrived with a few more lacedons. The demon killed another crew member while the sea-ghouls finished off a downed man. Sabuto made fairly quick work of the demon while Orn took out the ghouls. From shore a single, flaming arrow hit the deck, with a note attached. While one sailor brought the note to Cloe below decks, Orn and Flint then set to work tending and saving the wounded as the rest of the crew came on deck.

Having lost two more crew men, the ship put out to sea in the night, using Flint's night-vision to slowly navigate the shallows. Once in the safety of deep water, Flint used fly and invisibility to recon the enemy forces.
On the shore waited a handful of priests in the robes of the Death Followers. With them were a few soldiers and a few dozen men-at-arms. Only a handful of undead remained, mostly zombies. It would seem that most of the shadows were turned out to sea. There was a mid-sized ship on the other side of the island, lightly guarded.
The next move...?
