The heroes (Flint, Isaac, Sabuto, Harbinder, Shay Shay, and Haefesta) dusted themselves off and bound their wounds after the red slaad escaped. Harbinder used more of her healing power to strength the heroes and they continued forward toward the center of the chaos storm.
Less than 10 minutes pass when a lone figure moves into Harbinder's sphere of reality. The man introduces himself as Nerim, a seeker of truth and desert mystic. In exchange for the party's promise to free the Chaos Shard embedded in the skull of a living djinni at the center of the storm, the mystic gave the party a scroll and potion as well as knowledge of what lay ahead. Later, Nerim offered to share more secrets with the heroes in the ruins of Al An-Wahr, deep in the desert.
The heroes then met and slew three red slaadi -- the one from before plus two more. Continuing on, they then did battle with a blue slaad which nearly killed Sabuto.
Victorious, the heroes reached the poor, mindless djinni creating the chaos storm. Unfortunately, this close to the Shard, the party members began to transform. Using her limited TK, Shay Shay managed to rest the Shard of the Wand of Chaos free, ending the insanity although causing the sound of a Bell to ring...
Meanwhile changes were made...
Flint's hands and feet are now webbed. Perhaps he can swim faster now?
Isaac's hands and feet now have an extra, functional digit. Maybe he can put it to some new use?
Striped bands of Sabuto's skin now slowly shift through a range of seven striking colors, including the now-predominant glowing yellow. That's in addition to the two hearts beating in his chest.
Harbinder's ears are those of an ass -- keen but large and floppy.
Shay Shay, luckiest of all, has developed an immunity to diabolical venom as well as fully functional, slightly radiant, feathered wings
Haefesta, however, grew only purple membranes of skin between her arms and legs, good (theoretically) for gliding on the desert winds, but otherwise rather disconcerting to the Nereganti priestess.
With the storm gone, the heroes had a quick battle with a lone priest of Ghaunadaur -- although he ultimately escaped. Soon, a couatl, two lammasu, and a shedu arrived. They thanked the party for their aid and went about healing and aiding them. Using her knewly discovered command word, Haefesta cured the insanity of the djinni. Bowing, Kamar offered each of the heroes one service.
His first task was Shay Shay's -- to recover the party's treasure lost from the Sabu Lord. And with that Kamar disappeared, to return in the morning for his next task...
Soon after, the other good creatures departed, bringing Taephyr with them (his father has been looking for the young lammasu...) It is perhaps an hour before sunset and the desert is cooling and serene...
It is at this point that Harbinder asks where the heroes wish to go next. The shedu, Utnabanipal, explained that a powerful priest devoted to law could remove the marks of chaos if the heroes acted quickly. Haefesta knows of a High Temple to Ptah in the deserts of nearby Neregan. Meanwhile, Harbinder knows of a powerful priest of St Cuthbert in Verbobonc, but that unfortunately is on the other side of Oerth. Meanwhile, Flint and Isaac are still quested...
What to do, what to do?

[quote author=David Flint's hands and feet are now webbed. Perhaps he can swim faster now? That would be cool! I wonder if the water of Life will over-ride this mutation? Bowing, Kamar offered each of the heroes one service. I also know that the Djinni (sp?) is working on a few tasks for us as well - the Water of Life (I believe is what I need) must also be discussed. Like where to get it, etc. It is at this point that Harbinder asks where the heroes wish to go next. Flint is grateful for Harbinder's help and fully understands her desire to remove the ears. I am willing to take a quick sidetrack to help her return to normal - she has been a tremendous help and she is still willing to aid us on our quest. A quick detour does not violate the "spirit" of our quest and I am more than willing to travel to the ends of the Oerth to help a friend. I fully understand the ramifications and fully intend to continue to Muluk to complete our quest. My heart is clear on this compulsion and I have no qualms about helping a friend that helped us so much. I will gladdly bear and any consequences of my actions in order to help a friend. (especially one that has risked her life to aid me on my quest). Also, if anyone of the creatures is going past Muluk (Typhaer perhaps?) I would send a message with them about our experiences involved with our quest. I know this is not the same as "reporting back" physically, but it is better than sending no information at all. The shedu, Utnabanipal, explained that a powerful priest devoted to law could remove the marks of chaos if the heroes acted quickly. Haefesta knows of a High Temple to Ptah in the deserts of nearby Neregan. I am willing to do this - the mark of chaos is not something I want to have hanging over my soul. Meanwhile, Harbinder knows of a powerful priest of St Cuthbert in Verbobonc, but that unfortunately is on the other side of Oerth. Meanwhile, Flint and Isaac are still quested... 1) Send message (if possible) to Muluk. 2) Discuss with Kamar about the Water of Life 3) Go to the Priests of Ptah and have the mark of chaos removed. 4) Return to Muluk and report in. Responses...:
1) Send message (if possible) to Muluk.
Taephyr is willing to detour to Muluk and inform Omar of the Bright Eyes IF HE CAN FIND HIM, otherwise mentioning what happened to the Mosque of a Thousand Fountains (Zann, god of knowledge)
2) Discuss with Kamar about the Water of Life
Kamar will give you INFORMATION about how to reach the Waters of Life, but he is not allowed to bring the water to you. You will have to prove the merits of your life on your own in the crucible of Fate. That said, Kamar will only perform one service at a time. Since at the end of the last combat the group agreed that Shay Shay's service (recovering your loot from the Sabu Lord) was cool, that is where Kamar is. He will be back sometime tomorrow (April 11th), but you will not be able to speak with him until then (he agreed to drop Taephyr's stuff with the other lammasu for delivery to Muluk later).
3) Go to the Priests of Ptah and have the mark of chaos removed.
The only headache with that is it might take multiple "hops". Harbinder is quite happy to learn a new destination, but she has never been to Neregan much less this temple, so she isn't sure where she's creating a wormhole to. That's not really a big deal, however, I would be remiss as a DM if I didn't mention it.
4) Return to Muluk and report in.
Again, if you take more than a day delay, the negative aspects of your quest will begin to manifest, just so you're warned. You don't feel a think, but Harbinder warns that quests have a nasty way of sneaking up on a person, "not that I've ever been quested myself, but I know a priestess who has done MANY..."
Thoughts anyone else? David

Taking a side trip to the Temple of Ptah is fine with Issac, after all he did help us and if it doesn't get in the way with us completing our quest it wont be a problem. Just as long as we complete the quest that is the #1 goal. Issac would like Kamar to pick up teaching him religion were Taephyr left off. Also has decided he likes living in this land better then living in Gray Hawk since he dose not face the prejudices he did in the West.

Lets return to Muluk and inform Omar of the Bright Eyes, so we can complete our quest! Issac.

Thank you Taephyr! 2) Discuss with Kamar about the Water of LifeKamar will give you INFORMATION about how to reach the Waters of Life, but he is not allowed to bring the water to you. This is perfectly acceptable. (My understanding is that after Kamar returns with our stuff from the Sabu lord I will talk to him about the Water of Life. 3) Go to the Priests of Ptah and have the mark of chaos removed. The only headache with that is it might take multiple "hops". Hmmmmm, I wonder if her worm hole is still having troubles? Flint believes the problem was related to the proximity of the Shard of Chaos.... We will see when we use the next wormhole! :-D 4) Return to Muluk and report in.
Again, if you take more than a day delay, the negative aspects of your quest will begin to manifest, just so you're warned. I understand - I also feel removing the Mark of Chaos is a good thing to complete ASAP. Additionally, David, If a character deviates from a quest - they get punished, does this punishment persist until the quest is completed? Or until they stop the deviation? Just comparing it to other sword/fantasy stories - "a tired hero renigs on his oath and the land becomes ill" l (I'm thinking some of the Arthurian Movies from the 1980s here), but when he returned, the health of the land was restored. Or if you deviate once you get punished more and more severely until you complete the quest? I - Steve - am unsure on how your quests work - I'm just trying to get more game knowledge. Steve

I remember Jessica once deviated from a quest in order to get Kalavor raised, and I think she ended up w/ a -7 to almost everything when they finally caught back up with everyone else...but it was either that or just slowly die from the "questing sickness"

OK Taephyr said he would return to Muluk and inform Omar of the Bright Eye of what we have found and I don't doubt that he will do that.
That is if he can find Omar and if he gets back to Muluk. Don't for get Taephyr still can't fly and I think we should go with him to make he gets to Muluk alive.

Steve: the negative aspects of a quest remain in effect until the goals of the quest are discharged.
Gordon: the other lammasu are willing to "ahem" take Taephyr under their wing until his wings heal, so while it is very noble/heroic/loyal to watch over him, the little lammasu is covered (BTW, he levels on the 11th and will be much tougher!).

I would really like to see Teaphyr on another game in the near future. I like the little teenage Lamasu.

Yeah, the little guy grew on me too. I only introduced Harbinder because I was afraid you wouldn't be tough enough without Tim/Herrod. Now that he's coming back, perhaps I should just say Harbinder can't quite back from the Flanese -- she doesn't have the power to create that large a wormhole any longer...
It would give me a chance to have Taephyr return, although I do like the symmetry of her (from the FIRST Harmonia game) as well as Sebastian (from the SECOND Harmonia game) meeting up to go to Harmonia's Temple.

I do have a way to handle that. I'm just shooting for the coolest solution. If you have a preference, please let me know. I'm also trying to be sensitive to the idea that Harbinder is a little tough (which is funny, because on all the other games she was on, she always seemed under-powered compared to all the other characters of her level).

I like both of your characters Honey. It would be cool for Harbinder and Shay Shay to stay together in the West. I like the two of them working together.
