As April slowly turns to May, it is becoming increasingly clear that food resources on Oerth are dwindling. No new growths, whether fruits, nuts, flowers, or even shoots, are appearing anywhere. No new animals are being born either. Indeed, even magic is of limited use as very few priests still have access to create food and water.
The people are becoming anxious. Food riots have already struck many towns and cities. Hording is rampant and costs for foodstuffs have more than doubled.
Meanwhile, marauding monsters have discouraged many farmers from tending their fields. Anywhere from 15% to 30% of all livestock has died off from the horsemouth plague.
Things are looking bleak...
